Could be one of many problems, blocked radiator, stuffed thermostat, coolant leak etc etc,i would replace thermostat first if no leaks are present.

SOURCE: What's your problem?what type of antifreeze do i use r a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

find a brand that says that it is compatable with any other brand, and that it won't harm metals such as aluminum, copper, and so on.
you can buy it pre mixed if you wish ,i prefer to mix it myself.
brand isn't important as long as it meets the requirements listed above.
unless the warenty requires it
hope this is helpfull !

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, V-8. Yesterday, I was driving and it started overheating. Reserve and radiator were both full with antifreeze. We replaced the thermostat and still overheats. ...

check for blockages in the piping, this may be blocking the flow of the antifreeze.
Also check the coolant you are using it needs to be a 50-50 ratio of coolant and water in most cases. Please go by the manual.

Overheating while Eating

Bad themostat, dirty radiator (the front of it), corroded interior core of the radiator, weakening water pump, bad radiator fan.....just to name a few. More than likely? Low antifreeze level, or the thermostat.

Helpp-my jeep grand cherokee (1996)blew a radiator hose. it overheated. Hose replaced, fluid replaced-no spark-so wont start. Engine turns over

you may have a blown head gasket. if you drain the cooling system and it starts (it'll be very hard to start, still) then you'll know

Overheating

IT COULD BE THE FAN FUSE OR FAN RELAY, IF THE FAN IS DRIVEN BY THE ENGINE TRY CHECKING THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN SPINS FREELY WHILE IT IS COOL, THEN WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO HEAT UP AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND TRY TURNING THE FAN BY HAND. IF THERE IS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE THEN REPLACE THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN IS ELECTRIC THEN REPLACE THE FUSE AND RELAY LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD IN THE FUSE PANEL. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK.
