The 2.2 diesel is a belt.

you havent stated if its a petrol or a diesel and pray tell me what the 55 plate have in relevance to the question is it some sort of secret code ?? and if so in what country does it mean anything ?

there is no belt, it a timing chain so no need to replace.

Jaguar X-Type cam belt

These are chain driven. The only issue I have seen with these are the chain tensioners breaking. Generaly with chain driven engines, the chain will last the life of the vehicle, unless something like the tensioner or guide brakes. If it does break repairs can be fairly expensive.

Hi I have the same problem on my 07 plate 2.2 litre diesel x type - oli seal needs to be replaced behind timing cover - the part is cheap at about 16 pound but the labour is horrendous at around 450 because of the need to dismantle so much to get the cover off...

Well after digging up a few web sites, I found both references to the chain and the belt. I'll let you look at the one above and try to figure it out. If it is a belt, 60,000 miles. If it is a chain, then never. Hope this helps.
