Hello wavehogflame: My name is Roger and I will help you. The answer to your question is yes. To change the struts you will need special equipment. Also will need front end alignment as well. The coil spring on the strut is compressed pressure from roughly 600 lbs.psi. to upward of 900lbs.psi. This will cause great bodily harm or death. Please take to some one who is qualified and has the proper tools for the job. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Replacing front bearings on 94 toyota camry

It is not as easy as in the good old days. By far the best DIY prospect is to have a specialist suspension shop press out the old bearing after you remove the hub assembly, and press in the new one, as mentioned here

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/107-camry-solara-lounge/255035-diy-front-wheel-bearing-r-r.html

Incidentally, to separate the tie-rod ends, get a tool like this

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads19/image_122941325091376.jpg

and NOT one of these

http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/attachments/f26/13412d1192491963-spacer-lift-install-use-tool-tie-rod-sep.jpg

Now if you want to do the whole job yourself, see here p11

http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/sa.pdf

You will see that the bearing itself is pressed into the steering knuckle, and the hub is pressed into that assembly. You need to have a shop press, like one of these

and the right size press plates and mandrels. Some people use large sockets for that purpose.

Just using very big hammers, as we all used to do, will only damage the bearing in this design.

2002 toyota camry brake grinds on potholes

unless you can replace pads/rotors, I would say take it to a mechanic.
If this only happens on uneven surfaces, it could also have something to do with front struts or control arm bushings.
Best to have a pro check it out.
