I have an intermiting loss of power in my mk2 1.3 golf. It can do it in the middle of driving or sitting on idle It sometimes just cuts out completly some times it can be bumped into action on other times it sometimes can start it and have to pump throttle to build up revs b4 it will run on its own on other occasions stops for 10 mins then starts again no problem. Although the other nite loss of power couldnt bump it pulled over would not start regerdless of what i tryed eventualy kicked over but was running v loud and couldnt get over 30mph sounded at though the engine was running twice as hard. Have changed distributor coils leads plugs and fule pump. Any help would be grate.

SOURCE: mk3 golf gti cuts out

Check for vacuum leaks.either use a propane blowtorch (switched on very low BUT WITH NO FLAME!)When the gas enters the leak the revs will increase... OR if you're not confident with this, use a spray water-bottle with water and some washing-up liqud. the bubbles will disappear where the leak is. The leak will be between the air meter and the head.

Vw golf 1 timing

This engine is fully electronically controlled, you must do a fault code test, once you have the fault codes you do the required fault codes testing per the factory service manual and replace or repair the problem(s) that caused the loss of spark.
