Sounds like the struts. Probably cheapest and least hassle in future to replace them with a passive system, like Suncore, Strutmasters or Arnott industry shocks.

If you had the struts done, you should have had an alignment done asap afterwards. If you didnt, that could be why the struts have gone bad already.

When should I replace my shocks and or struts
When a vehicle is brought into an auto repair shop for routine vehicle maintenance, the auto technician may suggest that the vehicle shocks or struts need to be replaced. Learn the function of a car or trucks shocks and struts. Find out why the shocks and struts need to be replaced and how someone can tell if they’re bad.

The Purpose or Function of a Cars Shocks and Struts

Shocks and struts serve the same purpose. They’re main function is to keep the vehicle from bouncing. A vehicle has front and rear springs to cushion the vehicle over rough road conditions. If there were no shocks or struts the vehicle would continue to bounce excessively. The shocks and struts prevent the car from bouncing by damping the springs.

What’s the Difference Between Shocks and Struts?

Shocks are usually used to dampen leaf springs, where as a strut is used to dampen coil springs. Shocks are usually a single cylinder in the open where as a strut is normally surrounded by the coil spring and are more massive and complicated.

That’s why struts normally cost a lot more to replace than a shock. On a car the front suspension usually has struts and the rear usually has shocks. Some trucks have shocks on the front and rear. Other than those distinctions, shocks and struts serve exactly the same purpose.

Why Should the Cars Shocks or Struts be replaced?

Keeping in mind that the purpose of shocks and struts is to keep the vehicle from bouncing, the following is some of the reasons why they should be replaced.

* An excessively bouncing car can be an uncomfortable driving experience.
* The vehicle can be harder to control leading to an unsafe condition.
* Excessive strain can be put on other vehicle components causing premature failure.
* Bad shocks or struts will cause the tires to bounce and create spotty or choppy wear on the vehicles tires.

How to Tell if a Cars Shocks or Struts are Bad

1. Shocks and struts can be oil or air filled. If they are leaking oil or air they need to be replaced. Consumer beware, some dishonest auto repair shops will squirt oil on the shocks, show the customer the leaky shocks and tell them they need to be replaced.
2. Another method is the bounce test. Put all your weight on the front or rear of the vehicle and push down on the vehicle. Let go of the vehicle and stand back to see of it bounces. If the vehicle comes back up without bouncing, the shocks are probably in good shape. If the vehicle bounces a few times, chances are the shocks or struts need to be replaced.

Shocks and struts are wear items, not maintenance items. There’s no set mileage or time limit when they should be replaced. If the tires seem to have a choppy wear pattern or the vehicle bounces excessively over bumps, the shocks need to be checked.

Look at the struts or shocks and see if they’re leaking. Perform the bounce test and see if the vehicle bounces. Replacing the vehicle shocks and struts when they’re bad will create a safer and more comfortable driving experience, not to mention saving money in the long run.

2004 deville front end vibration at 67-75 mph

Check your strut mounts, and front struts, my 2004 cadillac deville did the same thing between 67 and 75mph and after time it shook between 58 to 80mph, and it was the front strut mounts were egged out, and front struts were weak. I had my tires balanced, wheel bearings replaced, and it didnt help.

It rides rough and seems to nearly bounce to the other side of the road when I hit a bump

Sounds to me like your shocks/struts are shot. Do the "bounce test" - bounce each corner of the car and see how many times the car moves up and down before stopping. If it's more than 1-2 times, then you need to replace the shocks or struts, depending on what your car has. (I would imagine your vehicle has struts.)

The right front and right rear struts rattling around when hit bumbs

Depending on your mileage...the average struts will not last past 70,000 miles...if your struts have been replaced, I would check out the mileage warranty from your mechanic or Parts Store...Nice Car to hold on to...:)

I have a 97 cadallic deville and when I hit small bumps it makes a rattling noise and the stearing shakes a little when I am driving

Most likely your 1997 Cadillac Deville needs the struts replaced and possibly a rack and pinion replacement. Of course, try the easiest answer first by having the alignment checked before you take more extreme measures.

When i drive down the road and hit a bump the hole car sways what make this happen

Blown shocks or struts can cause the symptom your describing. Find a solid part of the exterior and jounce it up and down a few times firmly. If it continues to bounce more then twice the shocks are worn and should be replaced.

Noise in the front end of my 1997 Dodge Caravan 3.0L

You can drive on those struts untill it has no sping, and even then it is just dangerous because of bad handling. If it is you struts, then your car should bounce up and down if you tap the brakes, because the gas seal is leaking.
Struts are very easy to replace. The only special tool is a spring compressor, but it is easy to use, and you may be able to borrow one at an auto parts store like the AutoZone. Just a couple bolts at the top and bottom, and it comes right out. They cost less than $100.
If it doesn't bounce...it could be your half-shaft. Does it click when you make a turn backing up?

When should I replace the struts on my 2001 camry?

if the car is dipping in the front or on one side, they need replacing. bounce the car from one of the front sides. if it comes up and stays there, the struts are fine. if it continues to bounce a couple of times or more, replace the struts. also if they crackle when they bounce.
