Try force turning steering wheel hard right and try the key at the same time it may take a few times if in fact this is the problem!

SOURCE: Steering, key and breaks all locked up!

If you have another key, try it! My first thought is that you have way too many keys on the fob. This will do a number on your key switch!
Also move the gear shift from low back to park. Step on the brake peddle as well.

Why won't my ignition key turn over and my steering wheel is locked in place at the sametime?

I'm assuming you mean your key wont turn in the ignition. first off check to make sure the car is in park. then what you gotta do is put in the key and put a little pressure as if turning but dont turn too hard, then even though the steering wheel is locked you will have to try to move it a little, if you parked with your tires turned then you will want to try to turn the wheel in the same direction, (even locked you should be able to move it about a half inch) you will have to turn the wheel hard but it should move enough to allow the key to turn, you may have to jiggle the key a little in the ignition but it should eventually turn, just remember not to try turning the key too hard, the extra force wont make it go but can cause the key to break. this tends to happen when you turn the car off andthe steering wheel gets locked if the wheels are turned hard in either direction. also if multiple attempts at this still dont work, try taking the key out and turning it over and trying again. Even though both sides of the key are identicle, because of wear on the key and the ignition, sometimes when the wheel locks the ignition, it will only turn if the key is put in a certain way. Hope this helps, good luck

Kia rio steering wheel is locked and won't turn

Okay, I just had this same problem with my 2009 Kia Rio and I did this. So not to down everyone's post on here -- everyone is correct -- by turning the steering wheel back and forth and turning the ignition key at the same time is a correct method. However, after talking to a Kia Serviceman, he told me you have to do it hard -- meaning turning it violently back and forth hard (madman style). In order to do this operation, I had my wife sit in the driver side and turn the key while I was on her left side grabbing the steering wheel and violent moving it back and forth like a madman, and after about 2mins of doing it the key turned over -- problem fixed. Do not worry about breaking anything; turning the steering wheel violently hard is a must -- this was told to me by a Kia service Rep. Remember -- have someone assist you; either turning the key or violently turning the steering wheel back and forth. Hope this works for you!!!!!

2003 honda accord/ key wont turn, steering wheel is locked

To fix your problem, you have to turn the steering wheel either to the left or right as much as you can, then try to turn the key in the ignition. When the steering wheel locks, the key won't turn. By manually holding the steering wheel out of the lock position, the key will turn again and you're steering column will be back to normal.

When I put the key in and hold the steering wheel it won't unlock and my key won't turn

the steering wheel has a locking devise released by the key when starting, at times the wheel is turned in a way that keeps pressure on the lock that makes turning the key harder, this is the same in most cars, so a little jiggle of the wheel will make turning the key much easier, please take a moment to rate my reply Good Luck

Security lock

Hi you need to turn the steering wheel all the way to the side the wheels are facing, it is very common on this car if you have parked with the wheels not being straight.

turn the steering wheel wiggling the wheel and jiggling the key from the lock this should free off. dont get me wrong sometimes they are really tight so be sure to push as far as you can in the direction of the wheels.
