If it is not the freon, then it could be the electronics that are supposed to electrically open the valve that lets the freon into the evaporator that gets cold. It is not a pressure sensor, but a valve.
But yes, it is easy to replace the airbag sensor in the bumper.
Here is a site with all the info, for each model, make, and year.

Sorry, but I did not realize that link was trying to get people to pay.
But unfortunately I have not done an airbag sensor on a Chrysler, so I really don't know how to help. I would assume it should not be that hard, because the only other wires to the bumper would be if there were turn signals in it. The whole bumper can't be that hard to take off. But most bumpers are also mounted on shock absorbing mounts, so they could be where the sensor is located as well.

Thanks for the quick response...I went to the site but it doesn't appear to have info on the 96 LHS...any other suggestions? It looks like they ordered T/Ducepkg - A/C Pressure and the price is only slightly higher than I can find online. But how do I relace the front impact sensors? Can't find info on that with the site you suggested...sorry!
