Jaguar x type 19" alloy wheel upgrade but rear wheels rub on arch

Hi, i have a jaguar x type 3.0ltr 2004..i have just purchased a set of inovit dtm alloy wheels 8.5x19" with 235x35-19 tyres but the problem i am now having is that when passengers get in the back it makes the rear tyres rub on the arch when going over uneven road surfaces and also when taking off from a standing start,,also the front wheels slighty rub on the inner wing covers when on full lock,,i was told that upgrading from 17" rims with 225x45x17 tyres to 19" with 235x35 tyres would give me no problems but it has give me lots of stress as the replacement wheels cost me nearly a thousand pounds and i cant even travel with rear passengers,,is 8.5j to wide or is there any modification i can get done to stop the wheels rubbing?as i really like these wheels,i gave the company i purchased the wheels from all my jaguar details and surely they should have told me that the wheels i wanted to buy would be no good but they said they would be fine,,not the case..please please help me with any suggestions you have,,kind regards dave (uk)

I really don't think you will be able to use those rims and tires, probably the biggest is going to be 18" wheels. The 8.5" rim is too wide. An 18" came as the stock size on the sport package for the Jag, it's 7.5 wide. I don't think who sold them to you really knew if they would fit or not. Without wheel spaces and raising the suspension, I don't think they'll work on the car.

Hi On my 2004 S type jag. the rear suspension squeeks loudly when I lift up under the rear wheel arches. The noise goes away when the car is jacked up. I have taken off the strut and the noise is not...

I have stopped those annoying squeaks by hosing down every rubber bushing I could find using silicone spray.
Way cheaper than having the bushings replaced, unless the bushings are chunked out and dry, then maybe they need replacing.

Jaguar x type 2004 front bumper

Front bumper removal is quite easy. To start with there is 4 10mm bolts one by each headlamp ( with the bonnet open) remov them. There is 3 T30 screws that hold the under tray to the subframe and there is also a small corner trim that is on the bumper side of the front wheel arch here is 3 T30 screws holding them on on each side. Finally remove the front wheel arch lining so you can get acsess to the inside of the bumper. You will then see a 10mm bolt towards the top of the bumper that is reversed to you. Remove then the bumper should then just pull away.

Worst case scenario is a bent chassis but that is unlikely. More likely will be a bent lower control arm. This cannot be repaired but it is easily replaced. If nothing else is bent, it will need wheels to be aligned and you are away again. Whole jod should take a couple of hours.
