2004 hyundai XG-350 Check engine light is on and the automatic trans is stuck in third gear. When I turn the key off the dash lights stay on dim and there is a ratcheting noise in the dash. I can reset everything when I disconnect the battery and reconnect with the key in the on position. The check engine light goes off and the trans runs through all five gearings. But the problem begins again the very next time I turn the car off. Unless I reset the check engine stays on and the car is stuck in third. Also battery drains because dash lights don't always go down. I checked fuses under the hood in the fuse box near the battery but everything ''looked'' ok...no obvious burnt fuses. Help!
I'm. New to this, but we have the same exact problems with our 2004 xg350l. I got the car to quit throwing 3rd gear and 4 other coded and having to unhooking the battery to reset. I first pulled the courtesy light fuse and the only light left on the dash was the trunk hood open light (while shut). Drove for a week like that with no problems. Yesterday I also pulled the Milagros computer and radio fuse ( all one fuse- listed ad radio). Now all lights offoff on dash. Most or all problems are from radio I think. All is well now but very quiet. Lol
Sorry Peter I do not have a solution to your car problem, but I also own a 2004 XG-350 and the SAME EXACT thing is happening to my car right now, crazy huh. Pretty much started out of nowhere...the boyfriend is going to go try the leaving keys in ON position and reconnecting the battery. Did you happen to find out what was wrong with yours, thought maybe if you did it would help save me a step. Praying nothing to serious. Hope you got your car working well again!
Thanks,
Nikki
