My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a slight vibration that starts around 55 mph and inreases with your speed. Becomes more noticible from 70 - 80 mph. The vibration is not severe enough that it can be felt in the steering wheel however, you can feel it lightly in the floor under your feet and can hear a slight hum at higher speeds. It feels as if it is coming from the front center of the vehicle. I am thinking it potentially could be tires or a u-joint, any thoughts?

I had a similar problem and it was a combination of problems. Check the linkages and tie rods also your wheels for balancing and alignment. Hope this helps.
sounds too much like a wheel imbalance, check all the wheel nuts are tight too (I know it sounds stupid but it has happened to me) some off-road tyres have a speed limit set to around 50mph.
have the mounts checked on the control arms, alot of times the can bend slightly due to a "curb" check. Call a local 4X4 shop and tell them you are experiencing the "death shake" they should know what you are talking about. That was the problem on my 02 TJ, i had replaced everything when i noticed that the angle on the control arm looked a little off.
I would check the transmission fluid level and color, should be a nice clear red color. You may need to have the filter replaced. Possibly some internal transmission problem also.
One possible cause is a worn universal joint. The first symptoms are usually a powertrain vibration at a certain rpm or speed. A visual inspection will sometimes show powdery residue by one of the bearing caps.
