The amount that it gets hot is a clue but theres no shut off switch. It's possible that the car is over heating and the temp gauge does'nt have enought water over it to report the problem. once the cooling system is cleared as it's full circulating and the fan will come on when it's hot ( disconnect the temp. switch on the therostate cover on the top of the transmission, ( the stat is in the lower hose ) with it disconnected and the key on the fan should be on and connected f till it's real hot. The crank senser or distrubutor module can can too hot and shut down too

What is the small electric censer in the bottom of the valley on a 3.2L V6 in a 99 rodeo? I had to change the thermostat and broke the little censer while i was at it.

Hi,im not shore,I think it might be temp-gage,
if you warm car up a bit, then take wire off broken switch,
get some one to hold the wire on switch you have a look at temp-gage then when car is warm get the person who is holding the wire to remove it from the switch,if the temp-switch gose down then replace the switch as it is the temp-switch.
good luck.

Could be the second fan motor or a relay. Have the circuit tested for the second fan.

We have replaced water pump / thermostat also. We have been bleeding the valve above the water pump and the screw on the thermostat housing. Temper gage still runs almost to the red line then the temp....

Try running engine until it starts to get warm then shut off let set for 45 min or so and see if you can add coolant. You may have to do this several times but it should work for you.

Replaced thermostat and sending unit .check engine light went out .on incline have 3/4 gage warm, when level goes 1/4 on gage cold air, temp wont get hot.or 1/4 gage.could this be computer if so how to...

Not computer. You have air in the cooling system. Bubble is moving around. Park on an upward incline, take the radiator cap off, run the engine and keep the radiator full. Let it warm up and let the thermostat open (until you see flow in the radiator). Then fill to the brim and keep full until it stops going down. Also open any bleed ports you can find in the cooling system (there may not be any) and let any air out of them. Let the engine run and check for any bubbles that continue to come out. If bubbles continue to come up, you have a blown head gasket that is forming the bubble and causing the heater and temp gage issues. If bubbles do not come out, maybe you have fixed the problem by getting all the air out. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Engine temp gage spikes to 260 degree when

are you sure the cooling fans are working?
Is the coolant temp gauge telling the truth?
have you lifted the hood and heard the coolant bubbling into the overflow?
Or heard the tinging sound of a red hot engine?
If he did a liquid test with the dye,and it changed colors it should have changed very fast,
Another thing to think about if he was to take the fan belt off,and pull the thermostat housing off,and removed the thermostat,Now pour coolant into the thermostat hole to almost the top,Now start the car and see which side the bubbles come from, left or right, that will be the gasket that is leaking not both.

93 plymouth Voyager temp gage gets hot only when

Your electric fan is probibly not running.Fan switch, fan relay or the fan could be bad.If it is getting hot and you pop the hood you should hear the fan running.

2001 vw jetta 2.0 Gls - Heat blows cold air.

It will probably be your thermostat that is jammed open , try fitting a new one , the thermostat is located in the housing on the side of the engine usually just above the gearbox , trace the top radiator hose to the engine and you should be able to find where the thermostat is ,
