I am looking for information on how to change the rear bearing on a 2001 Nissan Sentra. When I was doing the rear brakes, and once I got the calipers and rotors off, then I spun the hub and noticed there is a grinding rubbing noise and it was not smooth like the other side.
I can hear this grinding noise in the car while I drive also.
Thanks.
David.
Most newer cars have a bearing that is pressed in to the hub. In order to do the repair you should have to replace the entire hub. This is actually easier and cleaner because the bearings are lubed, sealed and pressed in the hub. They usually cost around $30 and should be available through your local parts store. In most cases the hub is held on by a large nut so I recommend that you make sure you have a socket that is large enough.
It is by the intake box next to the brake booster....You also need to check and change the fiter on the driver side rear tire fiter ..its small ands its black .
