Had timing belt replaced in 1/2010 for 2001 volvo s80.

In 4/2010 while driving on express my car cut off, got car towed to volvo dealer- they said timing belt was shredded on the outer edge due to prior timing belt job in 1/2010.

Got car reevaluated by original repair person, they said the water pump caused the timing belt to slip.

Is this likely?

Yes,the water pump should have been changed at the same time,BUT,and i keep saying this to all my customers,no garage will do any work that you, the client, dont ask for and if they reccomend it they are trying to rip you off.the original repairperson is not at fault in any way,as you cant see inside the pump to decide when its going to fail.....not what you wanted to hear ,but true.
best advice.is find a good mech and follow him/her around, that way it becomes personal.

2005 volvo xc90 check engine light on , OBD tool giving me a "LINK ERROR" Any ideas why is this happening?

I suggest call your dealer.
Sometimes you can still drive the vehicle others it will have to be towed. The dealer will tell you best recourse.
Volvo is a foreign model. Don't expect any of this to be cheap in comparison to a domestic model.

Hi Sherita

Obviously this could be very dangerous

Pull in to a Volvo dealer & get it checked

There could be a re call of your model if this is a known Volvo problem.

What year did volvo stop having timing belts?

you have a tinimg belt, you can get a kit from IPD VOLVO in OREGON or AUTOHAUZ AZ for hundreds less than the dealer and then take it into your volvo dealer and have them install it, IPD will have the origional volvo parts, you want to do this at 120,000 mi, and make sure, make certain!!! you change the water pump and the timing belt idler pulley, dont cheap out or your might DESTROY the motor!

How to get gears in time after replacing timing belt in 940 volvo 4 cyl if no markings after 1 and only top gear?

you dont will have to be taken to a shop,
there they have the right tools and knollage to handle that,

most engine are interferance engines-
if engine is turned over with belt off the all valves will be bent- resulting in costly repair-
so disconnect the battery before it is towed.

How to know if timing belt on volvo t6 needs to be replaced if dealer stamps and bills don't show it. The 105 page was stamped.

The timing belt should have been replaced at the 105K service. Someone should look at the timing belt to determine the condition. However, if you have any doubts, you should replace it to be on the safe side. Also replace the mechanical tensioner.

I need to change the timing belt on my 93 940 volvo

This is definitely not ajob for the beginner. The cams will need to be locked down with a special tool. If they move at all, your timing will be way out and you will have some serious trouble on your hands. Either take it to a dealer or a shop that works on Volvo. Most shops will turn down a timing belt job on a Volvo. When replacing the timing belt, you also need to replace the water pump, front crank seal, both cam seals, and im not 100% sure but I think the 940 has a balance shaft belt that will need to be replaced. I may be wrong about the balance shaft belt. The total cost of this job will be from 800.00 to 950.00 depending on the shop

2000 S-40 Seat Belts cut into side panel when pulling in or out.

Most states have a department of automotive consumer affairs. I would check your state's online site's Department of Motor vehicles to file a complaint. The states are generally very good at helping the consumer on problems like yours. Let me know how they respond.
Thanks.
