Most likely there is an issue in the fuel delivery system. Probably a fuel pump, however i would check out things like fuel filters, pressure regulators, or pinched or damaged fuel lines before going to the expense and awkward and timly task of replacing the fuel pump which more than likely involves removing the fuel tank. About a 10 hour job if your a DIY, a mechanic in a professional atmosphere can do the job in about 3 hours. Hope this helped!

The first thing is to try another key, you may have a bad chip in that key, this dissables the fuel pump, try that first, next would be to test for power at the pump, if theres power and a good ground at pump then you need a fuelpump, you can get to pump by removing rear seat then remove the cover on the floor and you will see pump and wiring good luck.

Have a 01 volvo 1.9LT v40 ,bat good fuses ok relay ok dash lights-up the eng. doesn't crank or start

Check for fuel pressure / sound of pump going with key in the "on" position as it primes the fuel system. There should be a schrader valve on the end of the fuel rail, it's got a plastic cap on it - uncap it and depress the valve carefully ; if you have good fuel pressure it should be pressurized and come out fast. If not, bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay.

2000 Volvo s80 sparks but doesn't start??? Help!

do you have fuel pressure? Check schreader valve on fuel rail for fuel pressure (push little pin in and see if fuel squirts out) If not, your pump is not working. if you do, you may have a cam or crank position sensor that is not working.

Loss of power s80 volvo slowing down and going round corners seems like you have let your foot off excelarator

Sounds like a Fuel Pump that is ready to die. Have your Fuel Pressure tested to make sure. Volvo is very good about making the Fuel Pump easy to access through a hatch in the floor of the Trunk or under the back seat.

99 Volvo s80 2.9 not taking fuel what could be wrong with it any ideas

First, check the fuel rail and make sure it is building pressure. Take the cap off the nipple (it looks and works like a tire pressure valve stem). If no pressure, first make sure a clogged fuel filter isn\'t the problem. The fuel pump is accessed under the back seat if you\'re not getting fuel to the filter. If that doesn\'t solve the problem, give me more info as to what you have done and when the problem started.

2000 volvo s80 crank no start?

If it has fuel in the rail that doesn't mean the injectors are delivering it to the engine, that is called injector "pulse", this can be checked with a little neon light tool called a "NOID" injector tester, you plug it into the injector connector and crank the engine over, it will flash if the injector is working and ionjecting fuel. The tool is very cheap. The loss of power to the fuses is likely a defective igntion starter switch.

My volvo s80 is hard to start regardless of hot or cold conditions.

I would check the cam timing, and the fuel pressure. If the cam timing has jumped it can cause this problem, also low fuel pressure can cause this problem if the fuel pump or pressure regulator is failing.

I ran out of gas in my 99 s80....after trying to start it 4 or 5 times now it wont turn over at all....I have replaced the battery AND the starter! Unfortunately five hundred some odd dollars later my s80...

So it wont crank or it wont start?

If it wont crank:
Check and see that all of your fuses are still good. Be sure to also check the fuse box under the hood.

If it wont start:
There is a test port on the fuel rail. Turn the key to the on position and then push the button inside the test port (like a tire valve) and see if fuel comes out.

If there is no fuel in the fuel rail, then you have an issue with your fuel pump/filter ect. This is very common after running out of gas.

S80 Difficult to start

Change the fuel filter. If pump is new, and you are not leaking gas from lines, than either the filter is clogged, injector stuck open
