2003 Jetta TDI - Door locks open fuel door

Look for a short in the wiring harness in the door. The wires from the door lead to the convenience module (controls the doors and windows and some other settings including remote fob) that is under the dash. It sounds like some wires are crossed. VWs are also notorious for having problems with window regulators. They make the windows go up and down and are in the doors. Something might have happen to that and it cause a short. VW just extended the warranty on the window regulators to seven years because of these problems so you should be able to take it to a dealer and not get charged (this is in the U.S. at least, don't know about the rest of the world). The extended warrranty was not limited to original owners but you might want to ask the service people about it first.
