How do I remove and install driver window weather strip on 1985 Chevrolet el camino?

The best way is remove the door panel and take out the glass. Part of the track is bolted in and some of it just presses into the channel. Any of the seals across the top of the door, like if the window is down and your arm is resting on them. These just pry off and push back on.

How to take out the window weather strip on a vauxhall calibra door

if you are refereeing to the rubber strip on the out side of the glass that you rest your arm on then it just pulls up out of a groove. Installation is to place the new strip in place and press it down into place.. Get the new strip and it will be easy to see how to remove the old one.

The water leaks into my boot and the left or passenger side inside the car leaving huge puddles of water inside. very unpleasant. also the 2007 MX5 convertable - no leaks in roof or rubbers. help please.

  • If water is getting in from the driver's or passenger's window near the soft top weather-strip, shut the door after closing the window. When putting up the hood, lower the windows while you secure the hood latches & then raise the windows. These actions force the window to contact the weather-strip a bit differently than when the window is closed while the door is closed.
  • There are two common places an MX5 will leak water into the interior - where the top meets the windshield frame- and around the windows where they contact the mouldings. Leaks at the windshield frame are usually caused by dirty or damaged mouldings or the latches not being tight enough. Usually you will notice the top will squeak and rattle if it isn't latched down tight.
  • Wetness in the trunk/boot can be caused by a range of factors. 1. Dried out weather-stripping around the trunk. 2. A cracked rain rail on the convertible top. 3. Dried out weather-stripping around the tail lights.
  • There are three mouldings that fit around the window, and water can leak either between them and the window, or between them and the top. Each of these mouldings is attached to a metal 'track' that is secured to the top frame with two screws. The window moulding that is closest to the windshield header is held on by two screws, the others have nothing holding them.
  • Water can collect in the weather-strips due to small crack or splits along the edge of the hood where it folds after a years of regular top-up top-down use. The only real solution is a new hood.

Rear passenger sliding door wont shut?

Check the bottom weather strip along the frame, it's common for passengers to knock them off it's runners and they fall down preventing the sliding door to close properly.
If it is the weather strip, place some RTV silicon to keep it in place when you re-install the weather strip back in place.
Thank you for using fixya and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your sliding door working 100% again.

How do I replace my driver side window weather stripping

First you will need alcohol and a razor. Slowly take the razor and cut away the old weather stripping the best you can then use a dampened cloth with alcohol on it to rub away all the sticky texture that is left. after Farley clean. slowly place the new stripping on starting with the bottom first.

Whistling noise as i am driving

Hi. This will be caused by deteriorating, or defective weather stripping. During driving, air is pushed through worn, or damaged weather stripping, thus, creating this whistling sound you are hearing in the passenger compartment. Water allows the small hole, or cracks, to emit the sound at a louder rate. This could be a manufacturing flaw(poor weather stripping installation, or defective composite). This is repairable, but you will need to locate the worn weather stripping. Once located, and exposed, you can order a replacement weather stripping kit from your dealer.

NOTE_ Most common location will be the front windshield weather stripping. the rear window, and side windows are to be checked, as well.

Outside window weatherstrip

I take it that you are talking about the door window weather strip. If so there should be a small phillips head screw at each end, and clips along in between. If you are replacing it you should be able to tell by the new one. You will probably have to take off the door panel and if there is a stop to keep the window from normally going to low, would have to be removed and let the window go down enough to get the weather strip replaced and then roll up and reinstall stop. Hope this helps.

Weather strip replacement

The door is filling with water? If this is the case then the best way to dry this up is to remove the inner door panel and dry the water up. With the inner panel off this good time to replace the seal. Please keep me info how you make out

Cheers
