It should be on or very near to the thermostat housing which should be at the end of the upper radiator hose that is closest to the engine. If not there, follow the coolant hoses/tubes because it measures coolant temperature after the thermostat.

I own a 98 lincoln town car exec ser. I replaced the radiator fan and nothing is working. I bought a fan relay and dont have a clue where it goes. Also i was told a coolant switch will turn my fan on. can...

Your guessing an want to replace parts that you have no idea if it will fix your problem . There is no coolant switch , There is a coolant temp. sensor that is a input to the PCM - engine computer . When the PCM see's the temp is over 212 degrees it energizes the low speed cooling fan relay ,when it gets to over 233 degrees it will energize the hi speed cooling relay . Rather then replacing parts , leaning how to read wiring diagrams an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test the electrical circuits ... Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Where is the coolant temperature sensor located?

In most cases, your going to find the temp sensor on top of the engine, close to (if not on ) the thermostat housing. Follow your upper radiator hose to where it connects to the motor. Often, you will see a bulbous (dome shaped) housing, that encases the thermostat, usually mounted on the intake manifold ( The large Spider looking apparatus on top that the throttlebody or carb sits on top of ) The easy part here is....its at the end of the hose...where ever that is. Now, on top of, or very close to this housing you will find an electrical connector, connected to a "plug looking" sensor. Sometimes there is more than one of these devises. But alas....common sense goes a long way. If it looks like it could pick up a reading of the temp of the water (in relation to where you see the hose going in...and the location of said sensor) you probably have it.....any questions...write me back.....be sure and rate my service.....it helps me keep my points up.

Dash temp guage goes to red on 2000 ford focus dohc zetech

Because you have done so many repairs already I would most likely say that the gauge is defective. I would use a manual temp probe and probe the coolant temp after the car has reached operating temp. Coolant will be between 180- 230 degrees. If coolant temp checks out and you can see coolant moving in radiator and the vehicle does not overheat then you will need either a gauge or a coolant sensor. To locate the sensor it should either be mounted in the thermostat goose neck housing or the intake manifold.

2001 Chevy Blazer. Service engine soon light on. Check comp and replaced Temp. sender. Light came back on and it says it's the thermostat temp. sensor. Any idea where this is located?

The temperature sensor is located on the intake manifold by the thermostat housing. Check the wire leads first and if that's good, replace the sensor and thermostat. The 4.3 was programed by the factory to run it's best at 190'", if it runs too cold. The mil light comes on indicating a temperature sensor failure.

Cooling temp sensor

Should be located on the lower intake on right or left toward the front. Two wires watch cause there's and air temp that might look the same.
