Easiest way is to remove all the bolts. You may have two studs which require you to have to really get the intake far away to clear. on the replacement gasket open up those holes so you can just slip it down once you tear the old gasket out. that way you won't have to have much clearance

  1. Take loose the intake tube from the intake and breather box.
  2. Remove the wiring harness from the intake mahifold there should be 4 injector plugs 3 plgs on the back of the manifold .
  3. You must take loose the fuel lines both the supply line on the left side of the fuel rail and the return line on the fuel pressure regulator
  4. Throtle cable must be taken off of the throtle body(and also dentent or shift cable if it is an automatic trans.)
  5. There is going to be a bracket on the underside of the manifold that more than likely will have to be gotten from the bottom should be a 14mm take loose from the manifold not the block
  6. There will be 8 to 10 12mm bolts that hold the intake manifold onto the head all of which are hard to get with the head still on the car but it can be done for a couple of them u will need a wrench and possibly even a swivel socket
  7. Remove the intake and pay attention to the hose that runs from the intake to the oil breather on the back of the motor its a bit tricky to get back on if u dnt have samll hands
  8. Make sure the gasket area of the intake and head are clean before installing the new gasket
  9. Reverse the instructions to replace the intake and make sure you torque the intake stud nuts to 16 ft/lbs

My 97 Honda Civic LX starts great, idles well and changes gears (auto) with no issue. It has been stalling after being warm on acceleration. When I reduce the load car runs. What could be the issue?

I think you are right with the head gasket, You can find out easy, because you can check it by removing the radiator cap, then put your hand on it and feel if any pressure is building in the radiator while the motor is running. Please don't open the cap, when the motor is hot. ONLY TRY THIS ON A COLD MOTOR.

2001 Honda Civic won't accelerate past 25mph

Check the:
- Fuel pump pressure and regulating valve.
- Check the ignition system.
- Air leaks. (Throttle body gasket, idle air control valve shucked open, PCV valve open, vacuum hoses, gasket intake manifold, A/C VSV).
- Muffler.

I have a 97 honda civic lx, and i can"t get it to start.can anyone help me out with what to do??

3 things make an engine start : compression wich is lost slowly and seems not the case here , fuel : take off the air filter and tube leading to the intake manifold , insert 2 table spoons of fuel and with nobody face near it start the engine , if it start and died , the problem his fuel pump , fuel pump fuse , injectors or the computer circuit and finaly spark , test the sparkplugs and coils .

My 95 honda civic runs fine except when i put it in gear it stops running

This condition is usually caused by a bad intake manifold gasket. The failed gasket causes a vacuum leak which causes the engine to stall when placed under a load. This is a common problem. Some of them are pretty easy to change depending on the type of engine. There are a couple of ways to diagnose this problem such as a scan tool or a smoke machine. An alternative method is to use a hand held propane torch. Open up the fuel valve on the torch but, do not light it. with the engine running, point the tip of the torch towards the intake manifold. As you move the torch along the intake manifold listen to the engine for a change in RPM. If you notice a change then the gasket is leaking.
WARNING : This is a hazardous procedure that is best performed by a qualified technician. DO NOT use an acetylene torch for this procedure. Always wear safety glasses and keep away from moving engine parts.

Idel issue after air intake install

Your problem sounds like have air leakage from air induction system. I suggest you to re-check the gasket of Air Intake Manifold you installled or vacuum hoses for possible air leaking.
The easy way to check it, use Throttle Body or Carburator Spray Cleaner. Just spray around intake manifold where gaskets fitted and observe the idle speed, once the idle change or encrease, definetly there is air leak and you have check the gasket or replce it if necessary.
But if doesn't make change, I suggest you to check Idle Air Control Valve, check connector plug, lines and if you have donor unit try to do test part.
I hope you fix your problem and please update me whatever the result if you dont mind. Thanks
