hi,i have got a bora/jetta 2001 with the same problem, did you find out how to repair it? I took the actutator(solenoid) off and tested direct to 12v baterry and it worked but just getting a buzzing noise when fitted to the boot. Also i tested the handle(micro-switch) using a multi meter and it was fine! only thing i can think is that its a wiring problem or bad connection somewhere or something more simple hopefully...hi,i have got a bora/jetta 2001 with the same problem, did you find out how to repair it? probably the door switch which senses if the drivers door is actually closed if the micro door switch is damaged then it is not seeing that the door is closed, check that out if not that you will need a vag scanner or something similar to get into the central locking module, let me know how you do peace
push down the bonnet and then pull the lever.or sit on it
otherwise you can with a screwdriver trhoug the vw mark
and try to reach the mechanisme
goodluck
Try disconnecting the cars battery for a few minutes.Remember to have your radio code handy as it will go into safe mode. This should reset your convienience control unit[central locking] and it should operate as normal..good luck
if you insert the key in the lock and turn it alittle further the boot should open.the noise you hear is the actuator moving, but the plastic rod to open the boot is probably brocken.
I would check the electrical wiring connector that connects to the B Pillar (the structure between the front and back doors looking for a pinched wire. If you move the rummer boot around a bit I think you can get a pretty good look at the wires and you will be looking for one that might be dangling loose. If this sort of thing isn't really up your alley a trip to the dealer may be in order.
