I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent car. When I go to fill the car up with gas the gas pump keeps shutting off. It takes forever to fill up the car. I had two repairman go over the car but they have no ideal on what to do. Please help!
I have the same problem currently with my accent. I am still in process of fixing, but narrowed the problem to 3 areas. I am thinking it is one of the first two. Let me know if you have any success and I will do the same.
there is a vent at the top of the tank, it may be plugged.
there is a charcoal canister behind the driver side rear wheel. It may be the problem.
There is a canister purge next to the charcoal filter. It may be bad

problem solvable replacing the canister and filter under the rear of the car. for good measure there is a filter under a cover under the wheel well drivers side rear. only costs a couple bucks and nearly all components of the recovery system will be new and you will not have any more problems filling your tank.

I cannot get gas to go easily into my 2002 Accents tank. I tried your solution 1/2 in, 1/4 in , up, down and sideways even upsidedown and no results!!!! If the restrictor cannot be repaired or replaced WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE???????
You have a restrictor in the fuel filler neck to stop fuel leaking out if the car overturns, unfortunately it also means you have to hold the fuel gun 1/2 way to stop it shutting off.also to fill right up, you have to rock the car a little when nearly full.autofill guns are only in USA/Canada. you cannot take out thr restrictor......
SOURCE: Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.
The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!
