I am trying to locate another remote for my 1993 Camry Vienta Ultima. I currently have a remote built into the head of the key with one lock/unlock button.
Ebay. call dealer and ask if you can use a key fob as well as an integrated key which you described. For Ford, you can use either or both together.
I am not familiar with Toyota, But I will give you the Ford process as a guideline. The owner manual provides the procedure to reprogram a key fob.
It tells you to match the part number and FCC code on the bak of the fob with the one you have. Then you follow a sequence of turning the key on and off and opening and closing the door. You get a flash of the dash lights to know you are in porgramming mode. Then you program, and after that, you get a flash of the dash lights to know you are done programming. This is for the keyless entry function, not the proramming of an antitheft key. For that, you need 2 programmed keys in order to program a 3rd key.
Check your owner manual for instructions.
ALso, call a couple of locksmiths in the phone book that say they do cars.

Best place to look is on ebay. Find a reputabe seller, be sure to match the FCC ID number on the back of your current key to ensure compatability. You can probably get one through a local Toyota dealer but will cost much more.

Hi, Yes I purchased a key fob on ebay which has a single button for lock and unlock. It does seem to want me to locate the receiver in the car and press a button. The car receiver does not have a button to press and has a rom board. It looks like the car programs the remote. My local toyota dealer can get me another remote key for $500 aus (no thanks)
I need to get hold of an owners manuel for my car.
I will call some toyota dealers today to see if they have the correct procedure.
Also my current remote which is built into the key does not have any FCC ID numbers on it. Or do I need to pull it apart and see if there is a number on the circuit board?
