The drivers side brake light on my 04 trailblazer doesn't seem to respond when breaking. The bulb turns on when the lights turn on, but unlike the center and passenger side brake lights, the drivers side doesn't get brighter when when the brakes are engaged.
I have already checked the fuses and I called chevy to verify there was no active recall on my truck. Any ideas as to what it could be?
U have to replace the bulb. There are two wires in the bulb to make it light one is for running lights and other is for brake so just pull it out and see if one of the wires is broken inside. lights are only a couple dollars. good luck
Testimonial: "Very helpful, turns out I had replaced the turn signal bulbs before, but not the stopping lights. thanks for the info"
Replace the bulb, the bulb is a double filament bulb and the one that makes it brighter has gone bad. You may want to replace the passenger side bulb also since it's common for both bulbs to go bad around the same time. Try replacing the bulbs with LED bulbs, the LED bulbs last a very long time since they generate no heat at all and have no filament. Rear Turn Signal Light Bulb Size: 3157LL
Tail Light Bulb Size: 3157LL
Thank you for using fixya and keep me posted if you have any other questions.
If the bulb is good the most likely cause sould be the tail lamp board the the bulb plugs into. last i looked the boards were fairly cheap at autozone and easy to change
Could be sombody change a wrong bulb remove and check is it 12v
otherwise it could be a ground loos connection
