I want to verify visually the spark wire connection at the distributer cap. I know the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 and the cylinder order location from AllData of the transverse mount engine is : ...

This appears to be correct, also havent known in my time using alldata for it to be wrong on any occasion so far. I trust that this is the correct fring order and wiring on distributer cap. Are you still having problem or just asking before taking on the task of a tuneup?

How do you put the spark plug wires back in the correct order if you forgot the right order by not marking them???

The oil should be labeled 1-6. The spark plugs on the front of the engine ( radiator side) are from the passenger to the drivers side 1-3-5. The cylinders on the back side of th engine are from passenger to the drivers side 2-4-6. Put the worse from the cylinder to the corresponding number on the coils. If your coils are not labeled I would need to know the eight letter of your vin number to get you the correct coil numbers.

For the 1997 VW Jetta:
I do not know if you have the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.8L DOHC V-6; however I have included both below. The 2.0L has a Distributor Cap and the 2.8L has an Ignition Coil.

|.1....3....5....|
|....2....4....6.|
Ignition Coil Connections

Where is distributor located1995 960 6cyl

hi, if you follow the leads that come from the top of the spark plugs where all these leads plug into is the distributer their will be four leads running along the outside going to each spark plug then the lead that goes into the center of the distributer goes to the coil.

So if you follow the four ht leads from the spark plugs what these all plug into is the distributer, if you are removing the distributer then make sure you mark where each lead goes as you need to put them all back in the right place.
Its best if you mark say the first lead with a 1 and then write a one onto the distributer where that lead goes into use permanent marker pen to do this so it dont rub off. getting the leads the wrong way round will mean the car will either miss fire or not run at all so just keep it all marked up properly.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Wire hookup to distributer cap.

Wires just pull out of the top of the cap. Do them one at a time and you won't have a problem putting them back.(they just push into each hole.)
