If the odometer is working correctly, the problem is inside the speedometer head. The speed sensor would be on the side of the transmission if the odometer is not working.
Did you look to see if it goes to the radiator. Most all vehicles use the bottom portion of the radiator as a transmission cooler by running the oil through the bottom portion of the radiator to cool the oil this keeping transmission cool. Chances are i t goes there.
I am not for sure on your car, but my car has a TCM, a Transmission Control Module. I had the same problem but only at an increase in speed, not decrease. Just trying to help. Sorry it's not much.
If its a 4x4 its in the transfer case near the back on the housing the drive shaft goes into. The one in the rear end is located dead center on top of the differential.
Get under your car locate the fill plug of the gearbox. Look like a nut screwed into the gearbox. undo nut , if no oil is coming out fill till oil come out and secure plug again. that is the onley way. Enjoy Willem SA
