Sometimes ignition doesn't start. Lights come on, keep turning key, it can take twenty minutes of trying before it starts. No problem once it connects, starts and runs great.

What EXACTLY is it doing when you crank it over? Almost all modern vehicles use fuel injectors. These need to be 'Primed' if you run them dry. The method here uses the electric fuel pump to fill the fuel supply system.
Make sure the battery is fully charged. Sit in the vehicle and turn the key to the second position (Ignition ON Engine OFF) and wait for Two minutes. Turn the ignition all the way OFF but leave the key in. Count to twenty then repeat this method including the count to twenty. Repeat this Three or Four times. On the last turn turn the key to the ON position again, wait the 2 minutes then try to start the engine. Turn the key for 2 to 3 second bursts to avoid flattening the battery quickly.
The engine should start and may run rough for the first few seconds as it clears any small air bubbles in the system. The count to twenty isn't a critical part it's just a good length of time to pause between key turns. If this doesn't work you will need to investigate the ignition and air intake systems to check they are also working correctly.

Try keeping the key in position for at least ten to twenty minutes, the security light may be blinking . Leave it as such for twenty minutes and then turn off the key and then again turn the key on and try to start , it must reset the security system.
Do you have any check engine lights on? Is your anti-theft light flashing? If so, put key in igniton, turn to on (NOT START) leave in on position for EXACTLY 10 MINUTES As SOON as theft light turns off, try to start.
Try cleaning the key and ignition switch with alcohol or electric contact cleaner. Try a different key if you have one. And GM's are known to have problems with the ignition cylinder and theft deterant system. A new ignition cylinder costs $280-$300. Sometimes you can turn the key to the run position wait ten minutes and then start it. Some people say you have to turn the cylinder to the off but not lock position before starting after waiting the ten minutes, but my sister didn't have to with her Malibu.
I can not release the key from the ignition. I have replaced the PNP switch. If I wait ten to twenty minutes it will release it sometimes. I don't know what to do from here. Please Help!!!!
