Not sure how different, but on the 2001 4.0 you remove the fuel rails and intake manifold. Starter is under the intake manifold. Not too difficult of a job.

ur car starter is attached to ur engine bell housing/ check the size of the starter bolt/ remove battery terminal/ remove electrical wiring connection both positive and negative and body ground from ur starter/ loosen bolt with a wrench/ pull out old starter/ install new starter and wiring connections but make sure to install the wiring correctly to the right terminals otherwise u will fry the starter when u start the car and lastly install battery terminal....
on a northstar i believe the starter is under the intake manifold. it's been a long time since i went to school for them so i could be wrong. if i am right it is quite a job to change
