If u replaced the pump the only thing left is the steering rack itself or seized ball joints

Hard to steer is not the pump in most cases, it is the power steering rack and pinion steering gear.

Steering gets hard at low speed

A new steering pump or rack may be in order. Honestly before I did that I would check the belt that spins the pump and make sure it is snug.

Pilot bearing or a throw bearing is what makes the noise while shifting gears and as for the steering noise, you either have low steering fluid or the steering pump belt is loose.

97 honda accord hard steering. power steering pump and rack have been replaced but still have hard steering

My guess is that you have air in the system. Turn the steering wheel all the way left, and then all the way right several times. Check the fluid level before and after.

Steering fluid

So you could not find the reservoir, or nothing was in it? Find the power steering pump and follow the hose to the reservoir. Honda uses special fluid.

Honda Civic Steering problem

Hi Dan

You did not indicate whether you checked the fluid level for your power steering. Please check this first. Please read your owners manual for specific instructions!

You may be low on fluid.

The next step would be to check your engine belt. The power steering pump is driven by a belt. It is possible that you have a loose or worn belt that is not able to turn the pump sufficiently at idle, but when you rev the engine higher, the pump produces sufficient power. One way to test this is to rev the engine, then try to turn the wheel, see if you notice any difference. Let me know.
