Loosen all 3 bolts, then do them up so that they are pinch tight then push door to close as hard as you can, open door and tighten bolts, close door again to ensure no rattles/leaks and that door locks.keep adjusting till you get it right...

The trunk on my 2016 ford fusion will not stay shut, I can hear the latch making noise for several minutes. what can be the issue

There could be a few possible causes for your trunk not staying shut on your 2016 Ford Fusion. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the latch mechanism: Make sure the latch is fully engaging with the striker plate when you close the trunk. If the latch is not properly aligned, it may not be able to hold the trunk closed. You may be able to adjust the latch or striker plate to fix this issue.

Inspect the hinges: If the hinges on the trunk are damaged or worn out, they may not be able to support the weight of the trunk properly. In this case, you may need to replace the hinges to fix the problem.

Check the trunk seal: If the seal around the trunk is damaged or not properly seated, it may be allowing air to escape, which could cause the trunk to open. Try inspecting the seal and making sure it is in good condition.

Consider the trunk lid: If the trunk lid itself is bent or out of alignment, it may be causing the latch to not fully engage. You may need to have a mechanic check the trunk lid to see if it needs to be adjusted or replaced.

If you are unable to find the cause of the issue on your own, it may be a good idea to have a mechanic take a look at your car to diagnose and fix the problem.

What's keeping my trunk from shutting?

Fuses work or they don't, continuity or not. If it's bad, it is burnt out and not giving voltage, it doesn't work.

When you press the button to open the trunk, a solenoid pulls the catch, and the trunk opens and the catch remains open.

When you press down on the truck lid, the catch base is pressed mechanically and it locks shut.

Your issue is almost certainly 'Adjustment', the catch isn't going down low enough when you press or slam.

Open the trunk, use a screwdriver in the slot to close the catch. Get someone to open the trunk release and watch it open. It it does, it works. You need to slacken off the bolts on the catch or the keeper plate and move it closer.

Trunk latch through backseat of spectra 2009? Battery is dead and keys are in trunk

You should at least be able to fish the keys out of the trunk even if you can't reach the latch. Most all modern cars have an easy to access latch release to prevent anyone getting locked into the trunk.

Chevy cruz 2013 trunk closes but will not lock, even with the door lock mechanism inside or on the fob.

It won't lock unless the brain knows the trunk is closed. One way of telling the brain the latch is engaged is by a switch buried in the latch that is pressed when the striker is fully engaged.

A worn/maladjusted striker, worn latch, broken switch or wiring are possible causes...

Trunk will not open w/ key ,button or manual we use safety latch inside to open

Joann, 1 st check the latch assy. for any visible damage, replace if bent or worn. Sounds like the lock mechanism is seizing up, You can try to spray with a thin oil WD (penetrent oil) etc. to free up including inside lock, to lube the small tumblers inside. You have to, if able, remove latch assembly and soak in oil over night if real bad.
The lock actuator may also be defective and links below will tell more about that.

Trunk wont open unless someones pressing the button and someones pulling up on the trunk

maybe the locking mechanism which latches the trunk closed needs to be adjusted a little more loosly (move the latch so that it engages sooner as you close the trunk) - do this by loosening 2-3 bolts to move the latch.

My car's trunk wont lock or close at all. What do I have to do take it to a auto shop or what? I dont know the cause or maybe the lock is broken.

Just like any door that closes, the trunk latch is comprised of two parts: one is a mechanism or latch, the other is a plate or pin that the latching mechanism catches it on. At least one of these is adjustable, and most if the time, both are adjustable. Check either of these parts, and see, if you pull or tug on them, if they move or wiggle. Chances are that one has worked itself loose, and needs to be readjusted. Or, you could have some debris or foreign particle in the latching area preventing it from fully engaging the catch. Another scenario is that somehow your latch has become "pre-engaged" and therefore will not catch, if it is not open to receive the counterpart.
If none of these apply, then check the latching mechanism, see if you can get it to "latch" by hand, so you can see if maybe a spring or something has fallen away. Then again, if it is man-made, it will break eventually, maybe that's the case here.

Hope this helps.

Locked trunk

There should be a button on th dashboard to open the trunk. I would think the emergency release is for the fuel filler flap. Is the key going in the lock? maybe it just needs a squirt of wd40?

The ford locks can be taken apart and made to fit any key, by rearranging the tumblers in the lock.
Any decent garage would be able to do this for you.
