You could have a head gasket failure between a combustion chamber and a water channel. Sniff the fumes from the expansion bottle to see if they smell of exhaust fumes. This failure should also produce bubbles in the expansion bottle if true.

Got oil leak 97 f150 top front of engine oil on alternator drip down to bottom

Various seals & gaskets will inevitable leak. Gen, they do not affect engine operation & will not damage engine. Simply keep ample oil supply in engine. Then the solution to oil leak problem is installation of an ''ENGINE DIAPER" device that catches, absorbs, and keep oil leak off ground surfaces. See www.oildiaper.com for info & purchase of an "ENGINE DIAPER".

Your radiator needs to be replaced. Chances are you have transmission and oil cooler lines going through them and there are mixing inside the radiator.

HAD THE OIL CHANGED IN 2006 RENO OIL IS LEAKING ON PAVEMENT.TOOK IT BACK AND THEY SAID TIGHTENED ALL THAT THEY COULD IS STILL DOING IT

The leak is probably unrelated to the oil change, at least in a bad way. Many vehicles are poorly designed for oil changes. Oil gets on several components under the engine and could leak for a couple of days. You'll have to find the leak yourself if they are unwilling or unable to do it and you don't want another shop to look at it just yet.

Keep in mind that the older a vehicle gets, the more leaks it has. Place a piece of clean cardboard under the vehicle when you park it. Check above where you see the spot on the cardboard if it still leaks. Since the oil is traveling down, keep tracing upwards until you don't see oil leaking or seeping and you have found the location of the leak. Keep in mind as well that oil can be slung by the engine belts if you have any seals on the front of the engine leaking.

Hi i have a 1994 dodge caravan it is leaking oil can this be fix im worry that we would have to save money for a van for my kids thanks

The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale

Oil leak onto garage floor either coming from oil pan gasket or oil filter not sure wich one

Clean the filter and pan with a spray cleaner, run engine for a few miutes.
recheck oil leak.
Probably is rear main seal leaking, very common trouble.
If not leaking much, keep drip pan under car to keep floor clean and drive on.
Most cars do leak after they age a little. The black line in the middle of the road is oil leaking from cars. Very common.

A small oil leak has been found in the gearbox recently. i'm about to go on a approx 4000km driving holiday. there is no change in the driving of the car, all normal,do you think it will it hold out until...

This depends on how much oil is leaking, if you can check this level and keep it full no matter how much you drive, it should be fine but if you get low on oil and keep driving you may blow or break something very expensive to replace. Make sure you keep your oil levels topped off, and if you can not service it take it to someone that can, good luck PS: people drive around every day with oil leaks they just make sure not to get low on oil because knowing how important oil is to keep full is important to not breaking down.
