Hood latch cable fails to release hood when

You should be able to reach under the bumper and hit the latch with some penetrating oil. Get someone to help you that can lift the hood while you pull on the release.

While having someone pull release, trying banging with palm of hand on front of hood near latch, it may just release. If that fails, try getting a small pair of pliers or vice grips on cable behind lever you pull to open, and trying pulling cable more, that way. There should be a way to adjust /tighten cable once you get it open and look at latch where cable is attached. Lubricate mechanism as well once open.

have someone push on the hood at the same time you pull the cable hold the cable then let go of the hood, when it opens lubricate the system

use a coat hanger and go through grill and hook the hood latch. you can also lay under front of car with a few extensions and a rachet, and take out the bolts that hold hood latch. if both fail. remove grill if possible to get to hood latch. good luck !!

The release for the hood is most likely gone,look on the far left under the dash,for a cable to pull.

is the latch from the interor car broken, or the locking mechenism to release the hood not working?

Either way its a simple fix just requires the hoot to be open.

if it is broken at the handle you should be able to grasp the cable with pliers to pull it otherwise you will have to go out front of truck and the best way i found requires long arms, but you would have to use a flashlight and slide under front bumper and look upward to find cable/latch assembly. You may be able to do it through the grill but if cant see it through the grill under neath.if you in front of truck pull latch to right and it will release.

can you reach the cable itself?,or is it broke at the hood latch?IF its not broken at the outside latch, try to follow the cable,un-hook it from the handle and pull on the wire cable to open it.IF its broken at the latch itself,you are going to have to reach the latch through the grille and try to pull the lever the cable connects to.That part is no fun at all..!!

Someone just successfully helped me with a similar problem. IF the cable is Not broken, ie: still taunt when one pulls the hood release lever in the car, then the latch under the hood is simply stuck. Try this. Have someone bounce/press down on the front center of the hood where the latch is located to relieve spring tension. At the same time have someone pull the Hood Release lever inside the car. This may pop open the front hood. Then after the hood opens spray WD40 on the hood latch to rid the rust which likely is the cause of the problem. BTW...don't know what you mean about the Oil Light comes on. You don't need the engine turned on to open up the front hood, at least not on my model (2door sedan).

Ok, open the door, stand next to the door, pull the hood release while slapping your hand on the hood or have someone else lift the front edge while you pull on the latch..... should get in...
