Once you have replaced the brake pads and a new sensor , turn on the ignition without starting the engine for approx 45 seconds and the warning light will reset itself , regards mark

If you exchanged the sensors wear what are the brake plates,do not disconnect the battery!!!
But just 3 times and turn off the car ignition to be in position ON
and waiting. LED goes out alone after 30.seconds!

if i wear sensors on the new plates do not need to disconnect the battery and lose data set (radio, time)which are stored.
The light goes out when the ignition 3x off and on and stay on 30 sec

Hi Peters6709,
Sorry to tell you, but you need to replace the pad-wear sensors as well. They are the little trapezoid pieces that hang inside the tops of the inside pads. They should run about $10 each. Once replaced, disconnect the battery completely for about 10 minutes, if you have a stock radio keep the code handy.

Next time check the pads every 10-12K miles. I have been running the SAME pad wear sensors on my Z3 for the past 2 pad changes now after making the same mistake the first time.

Best of luck!

Bmw 520i 1999 abs/asc lights on diagnostic

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

Hi i locked my bmw 323i with key pad now it wont

the BMW is complicated since i had a similar problem with mine. the keypad is connected partly to the ECM and the TDS. the connector to the keypad partially gets corroded over time and wont send the correct signal to disable the alarm. Check the connection first. if it is fine. disconnect the power to the battery for 5 minutes to let the TDS reset and try again. if it fails then chances are the key pad is faulty

Brake shoes were replaced but the light is still on

it may need to just be reset. turn the key to "run" but do not start and it should turn off within 30 seconds. if it doesn't it sounds like whoever replaced your brakes did't know what they were doing. There is a wear sensor connected to the front brakes and the rear brakes. if the sensor wasn't replaced during the brake job ( wear sensors must be replaced every repair because they wear out) it has to be replaced
