Hi I have a problen with a Lexus IS200, 2000 model. When you take off frm a standing start, the engine lacks power until the car reachs 60ks/h. I have checked fuel pressure and flow and all are within specifications. There are no fault codes in the computer's memory and have also checked exhaust flow and it is showing no problem with the a blocked exhaust. Also checked valve timing and engine vacume, and bothe show to be ok. Checked map sensor and throttle position sensors and all ok. Checked ignition timing and timing advance on reving, all ok. The car seems to take off in reverse better than in drive. Please help?

SOURCE: Check engine light is on

no such thing as a catalytic computer... there is a catalytic converter ... part of the exhaust system so they may now be "guessing" that it's an O2 sensor. take the car to autozone... they will scan the codes for free.... post the codes here tho the lads and lasses there are pretty clever and will probably tell you what the codes mean.

SOURCE: High RPMs

yes its related to knock sensor because car is running rich in fuel, and car runs of on safe mode, so overdrive will be off. have you and a friend replace it. remove intake assembly, then intake manifold, but first remove your anifreeze from radiator, trust me you want to remove antifreeze! their are brackets by the fire wall to hold down the manifold, thats the hard part is taking it off and putting that on since not to much space to work on it. on the block you'll see the two knock sensors, has 2 wires each, knock sensors cost between 150- 200 a piece, still cheaper than dealership putting it on. also buy some liquid gasket because you will need that. after putting it all back together reset the ecu and you should be fine,

SOURCE: 1993 Lexus LS400 acceleration stalls or surges

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. 93 LS 400. THAT WOULD BE YOUR FUEL FILTER OR THE FUEL PUMP GOING BAD. TRY CHANGING THE FILTER FIRST. THE DEALER TRIED TO CHARGE ME $980 TO CHANGE FUEL PUMP.

SOURCE: check engine light on, replaced oxygen sensor before catalyst,

  • Water or corrosion in the connector
  • Loose terminals in the connector
  • Wiring burnt on exhaust components
  • Open or short in the wiring due to rubbing on engine components
  • Holes in exhaust allowing unmetered oxygen into exhaust system
  • Unmetered vacuum leak at the engine
  • Bad o2 sensor
  • Bad PCM

Any ideas thanksI have a 1985 Dodge aires 2.2 efi when I start it cold I get a sooty exhaust and lack power until it warms up I have changed the plugs a little better.

Have you check the engine coolant temp sensor to make sure it isn't reading too cold and making the fuel trim too rich. Also, may want to check for a vacuum leak or bad MAP sensor. The engine control module uses these sensors to keep car running until operating temperature is reached and then the oxygen sensor takes over..

Lexus gs300 alarm

check to see if you can adjust the sensitivity of the alarm as it may be temperature that is sending it off. If it m is a genuine factory fitted unit then have a talk to the service centre for clues. Also have you considered the possibility that an animal ( cat) is jumping on the bonnet to get warm from the engine heat

I have a Lexus Rx400h, the engine won't start. the lights, including dashboard lights, aircon, radio are on, just won't go to ready and start

Can you ensure the car is in park?
Move lever to D and then back into Park and see what happens.
I have heard with this particular model, we have the environmentally unfriendly RX 330, that the batteries lack of charge may play havock with the electrics in these cars.
I religously charge my battery every six months with a smart charger so its always in peak, I also find a quick zap at the first cold snap of autumn / winter gives us trouble free motoring.

REAR SUSPENSION SETTLED ALL THE DOWN

You likely have a leaking air bag in the suspension, they last about 100,000 miles on average. Have a shop test the bags for leaks.

My lexus sat for about 3 months and i tried to start it with a battery charger and it will start but wont idel

Hi there,

Erratric idle is normal, after the battery has been flat for some time.

Your vehicle's ECM monitors many emmission sensors and stores their appropriate data parameters. When the ECM loses power (i.e. the battery goes flat or is disconnected), all sensor data is lost, so the ECM then reverts to factory parameters, until the ECM re-learns new engine sensor parameters.

If you can get the engine started and leave engine idling for approx. 15 minutes (for engine to reach operating temperature), then take for another 15 minute drive (city driving is best), this should be sufficient for the ECM to re-learn new parameters and stabilise the idling.

If the engine still will not idle correctly, then have the OBD fault codes read from your vehicle's ECM - this will quickly identify the suspected circuit causing this condition.

Hope this helps............

From a stand still if you accelerate hard vehicle starts vibra

Well, kind of short on description, issues typical in this complaint are misfiring and U joints.

To emininate the engine, does the vibration happen on power braking, without the vehicle moving?
