check fuse/relay for abs system if good will need to check the abs sensors wire /connectors can get damaged by road debris also a hub/wheel bearing going bad can cause these problems since abs is incorporated into it --

Red lite comes on at startup to ck. system. If amber lite stays on, ck. brake fluid level and see if emergency brake is partly up. This shows problem with anti lock system if it stays on, not main brake system. If all is ok with this but still stays on Have ABS system checked. Haynes repair manual, 95-2003 Windstar, all models.

I think that would be your break fluid indicator

With the vehicle off, turn the key to the on position and see if there is an ABS light (usually yellow/amber). If so, the brake light is related to the emergency brake and the rear calipers aren't done correctly. If no ABS light, the brake light is most likely the indicator for the ABS system. a sensor is most likely unplugged, damaged or just knocked out of calibration with the ABS drum.

ABS LIGHT ON COULD BE A BAD WHEEL SENSOR CAUSING ABS UNIT LOCK UP THAT WHEEL OVERHEATING OR YOU COULD HAVE FAULT IN THE ABS UNIT.TAKE VECHICLE TO GARAGE OR DEALERSHIP.LET THEM SCAN THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM TO SEE WHATS CAUSING ABS LIGHT TO COME ON.

hello this is a common problem with the dakota ,ohm out your rear abs sensor on the rear end pumpkin.If it is open then both lights will come on .the sensor is not expensive at all or hard to.

Check & repair instrument cluster if shorted
