Won't start new engine no spark

I am not real sure of the question. Module, distributer and starter ? The starting circuit doesn't really connect to the distributer and as far as a module goes, it's not really connected to the distributer and has 4 wires going to it not 3. You said 3 wires and distributer in your question so I'm gonna try and help you and hope I am understanding what you are trying to ask. You didn't mention your engine size and the picture looks small but it really doesn't matter if you happen to have the 4.3 liter engine. The wiring is pretty much the same. The wire colors may be the same V-6 or V-8 Engine. Now the distributer does have 3 wires coming from the distributer (pink, pink with a black stripe and a brown with a white stripe). Those are for the cam shaft position sensor which is mounted on the distributer. I am guessing the engine won't start but does turn over and your not getting any spark at the spark plugs (kinda going by your question you wrote. If this is what is happening then yes the ignition control "Module" correct however that is mounted on the right (passenger) side of the engine basically on top of the valve cover. Like I said it has 4 wires going to it and if this is faulty you will not get any spark. In the picture with the engine, where I put the red arrow at is the general location of the module. The other 2 pictures are the wiring diagrams for the entire starting circuit and the wiring for the cam shaft position sensor. check the coil, as it sounds like that may be the problem

the spark plug wires can be confusing but a 4 cylinder is not that hard from the front of the engine being where the pulleys & belts are its 1,2,3,4 on the coil or distributor it can be in counter or clockwise rotation 1&3,2&4 or 1&4,2&3 likely its 1&3,2&4 hope you find this helpful

If the check engine light does NOT come on when cranking at the times when it won't start, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem typical of early 90's jeeps. Repair or replacement services for your jeep ECU are available on ebay.

Try tracing the wires and looking for a worn spot in insulation that is grounding out, its a royal pain but might be the only solution, use wire prob and test areas where inaccessible. good luck

you said your not getting spark..... double check that all of your plug wires are firmly attached ... you could possibly have a bad coil pack .

Check the fuel injectors, with the key on one side of the two wire connector will have battery voltage, if none is present then check the ECM fuses in the underhood fuel box.

pull one ignition cable out of cap just enough to see the tip of connector and crank it, a spark should jump from cap to tip of wire. no spark means you need the whole distributor replaced. buy it from nissan or infiniti dealer, it comes with cap rotor installed and 12 mo 12k mile warranty, no matter who installs it. dont waste time with aftermarket rebuilt distributor, those are not reliable. https://parts.infinitiusa.com/

crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.

The Toyota 4 cylinder engines have a problem with the electronic units inside the distributor. You will need to replace the entire distributor to fix the problem. You can get aftermarket distributorsat ebay or similar sites for alot cheaper than the originals. It's an easy swap that will take about an hour to do if you are mildly mechanically inclined.
