You will need to take off the inside cover and look and see if there is an obstruction keep it from moving. A lot of the time the lock assembly just needs to be lubed with a lube spray.
you dont know how to check fuses?
is that the question
why 1: look at em' if they look blown they are, some that look ok are i fact not ok.
way2: use a voltmeter, key on, both sides 12v, if not, its bad. if one side is 12v and other side not. this is 100% accurate test.
Hi ... You need two people, two new gas struts a small screw driver and a thirteen mill open end spanner.....
Change one at a time with the second person supporting the tailgate, dependant on what type is fitted the struts will have a metal "c" clip that needs to be removed at both ends on the ball joint sockets, prise the clips out and remove the strut, and replace in reverse order.... if you have the struts with the ball and sockets at each end you need to support the tailgate with your by now long suffering partnre and undo the nut and socket in the body and tailgate.... they, once loosened will come out easily..... just make sure that when refitting you dont cross threads... repeat same on the other side and then give friend a cold beer..... hope this helps..... Sounds like lift gate struts. They are readily available and easy to replace.
Here is the instructions for replacing the liftgate struts.
the struts have little metal clip on retainers, use a small flat bladed scredriver to pop out the retainers. also, make sure you have somebody help you hold up the liftgate while changing the struts. the liftgates are very heavy and can cause injury
•
Release the locking tabs on the strut.
•
Ensure the clip is fully seated when rod is reinstalled. If the clip cannot be fully seated, a new rod should be installed.
Have you checked your owners manual... also look on the core support as you open the hood for a diagram. They are usually mounted there and possibly on the strut tower or under the hood. Also try your local library or parts store for a manual. I hope this helps you
Open the liftgat and you should see the screws on the side of the lamp. Unscrew then and pull the lamp away from the vehicle. There should be sockets in the tailamp that screw in and out about the size on a half dollar. Pull this out and pull the bulb out straight and replace by pushing in a new bulb. Follow these directions backwards to replace the lamp. Hope this helps.
