Yes and no, the engine is compatible. You will need to swap sensors and brackets, but the engine itself is the same. The trans is a different series though. Different computer and controls. Would not be a direct replacement.
series III 3800 engine, you have to get a harmonic balancer puller (can rent from autozone) remove the balancer and you will be able to get at the crank position sensor. while you are replacing, check the wires and make sure the insulation is in good shape and not showing bare wire.
you can put the live wire from the battery directly to the pump connector. if you have the difficulty to select the right connector, you need to take out the pump assembly then see from inside.
With this Piticular Engine The oil Pump Is the ONLY Problem I"ve found that They Are even Slightly Bad At and Not A HUGE Problem at all,Oil sending Unit May very well be the Culpret. Hope this Helps you Diagnose it Correctly.
