We put a new water pump and thermostat put it still over heat quickly

Check your radiator for scaling (white deposits). A small amount of scale can greatly reduce the cooling capacity of the radiator. Check to make sure your radiator is full of water/antifreeze.

1994 Toyota Camry,New water pump, new radiator, but car is over heating and missing,it smokes from the radiator when I stop....

Did you replace the thermostat? How long does it take to overheat? Is there water coming out of the tailpipe? Do you have to keep adding water to the radiator?

Sounds like a blown head gasket from the engine miss. Pull the spark plugs, if any of them are kind of a bleached white on the electrode then you've got water in that cylinder and either a blown head gasket, cracked head/block, or a combination of those.

Good Luck!

When you fill the radiator, did you make sure the car heater was set to Full Hot? If not, there could be an airlock in the water system. This can give the symptoms you describe.

I put a new water pump and a new thermostst and my temp still slowly rises. or it could be that the water canister could be bad i really do need the help!!!!!!

heat rises can be a number of things,, is anything blocking the air flow through the radiator, are the cells in the radiator blocked or clogged,, look in through the cap refill for the radiator and see if its rusty if so flush the radiator, is the thermostat the recommended heat range for the motor? Is the fan working correctly,, any of these could cause your problem, once it reaches the correct heat range is the thermostat opening and the temp0 drops,, and here's one that I have to add , but no reflection on your repair abilities, But I've done it ,, so I know it happens,, is the thermostat put in the right direction, make sure the spring section is towards the motor

Truck will not heat up. I have put a new thermostat in. Also it has the right mixture of antifreeze, and clutch fan is working. Radiator, and hoses don't get warm!

Make sure the new thermostat was not put in backwards, tap on thermostat housing lightly could be stuck in the open position.

I have 1992 GMC pickup that I bought new. It has

The cooling system has not been completly full of coolant, make sure the level of coolant drops, when the engine heats up,and the thermostat opens up,then the coolant level will drop, when it does,be ready to fill the radiator completly full at this time, then cap the radiator off with the radiator cap.Be sure to fill coolant reservoir up,a little past the full mark.so it can fill it self as needed. If there is not enough coolant in the system,it will do what it is doing now.

2001 Alero- heat gage does not show heat tempature. Blows warm air.Engine felt cold after a 50 mile trip. Out side tempature 20 degrees fernaheight.

with winter being here you might want to consider having a new thermostat put in to increase the heat in side, but make sure your radiator is full when engine is cold

Grand vitara radiator over heating

I have had brand new Thermostats that are bad. The way to check a thermostat is to boil it in water and see when it opens. You may need to have your radiator cleaned or roded out. You can also remove your thermostat and see what happens then I would start by flushing the system and see what you get.

Thermostat

If the hose has collapsed, most likely the thermostat was put in backwards reversing pressure. There is only one place the thermostat goes. Follow the top radiator hose to the top of the engine block. It will have a round clamp holding it onto an aluminum housing, usually held on by two bolts. On a cold engine, first drain the radiator and squeeze the hose till you don't hardly hear any gurgling noise, unbolt the screws holding the housing, you don't have to take the hose off the clamp. You'll need the new thermostat and gasket for it. Not sure of the type, go to your local parts store and give them the specs on your vehicle. Engine size, how many cylinders, if it has a/c or not. Most likely some engines take a 185 degree thermostat or higher. They'll tell you this. Make sure you remove the old gasket remains from the engine block and the housing before installing the new gasket and thermostat. Use a putty knife. Once it's replaced, refill the radiator. Start the vehicle and wait for it to warm up, watch your temp. gauge or light and turn on the heater all the way up to you feel heat. Approximately 10 minutes tops. Watch the hose if it collapses again or not. You should be good aftger that.
