What would make your horn on a vehicle stop

The horn circuit is relatively straight forward for a '11 vehicle... the horn switch via clock spring energizes the horn relay that powers the two horns.

Check grounds at the horn(s). If no problem found, check if the relay is being energized.

Radios are not controlled by a relay. Horns are because they drain a lot of amps that could arc out the steering wheel switch contacts. Get two wires onto the battery and touch them to the end of the horn. Horns stop working because of their location in the vehicle.

The elements to a horn circuit in your vehicle are:

1. Steering wheel horn button;
2. Actuator wire in steering column;
3. Ground wire for steering column;
4. Horn relay; and
5. Horn.

Start troubleshooting!

Security engaged, Lock and unlock doors with key until horn stops.

If it is the horn, pull the horn fuse or relay. Does the vehicle start and drive, ok? Of course, pulling the fuse or relay isn't the proper fix. I'm just talking about killing the horn, where applicable.

Excessive use, horns have a very short life span.

I have the same problem and it's not the rely or fuse... that would be too easy.

2000 Dodge Caravan ABS Light Question: 2000 Dodge Caravan. The other day my light for my air bag came on, but I noticed when it came on my cruise control stopped working and my horn doesn't work when I push on it. However the horn does work when you set off the alarm. Is it a fuse that's gone bad and if so which one is it.

Answer: There is a device inside the steering wheel called a Clockspring. Basically it looks like the main spring of a watch. It's purpose is to insure perfect electrical contact with the airbag module in the steering wheel. Wiring for the horn and cruise control also go through the Clockspring. When the Clockspring goes bad you lose horn, cruise control and the airbag light comes on.
On 10/5/2004 a Motor Vehicle Recall, number 04V480000 was issued on this vehicle for this problem. From the recall bulletin:
Summary:
ON CERTAIN MINIVANS, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY BECOME DISABLED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE HUB OF THE STEERING WHEEL.
Consequence:
THIS CONDITION WILL MANIFEST ITSELF THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP, AND COULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DRIVER'S AIR BAG OPEN CIRCUIT, IF THE PART IS NOT REPLACED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON ALL COVERED VEHICLES WITH 70,000 MILES OR LESS. So at this point you should call your Dodge Dealer and make an appointment to have the recall performed on your vehicle.

You might can have the dealer program it not to honk, but its just the way the keyless entry works. I've owned 2 accords--an 06 and 08--and both of them honk the horn when the lock button is pressed twice. Pressing the button once will secure the car and arm the alarm. So once click is all you really need. And no your alarm is not malfunctioning.

sounds like a problem with the HORN CONTACT / SIGNAL SWITCH under ther steering wheel. Hope this helps

Ford horns are famous for this disconnect the black ground wire from the horn front of vehicle next to radiator. This will stop it for noe you will need to replace the horn all the parts houses have them. Good Luck
