1985 corvette, pulled the hood release and the diverside opened but not the passengers side so now i can't open the hood, how do i release the passenger side that is stuck

check under hood or open doors and look on side of dash, look inside glove box on top or under arm rest at bottom. or its under dash on passenger or driver side

Under the car:
You will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.



Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and replace the safety release mechanism broken cable.

If the cable broke in the cabin, pull off the side panel in the footwell and use a pair of channel locks or good pliers to pull on the cable to get the hood open.

If it broke at the hood you'll probably need to lift the car and see how to get to the release by getting between the radiator, front end and grasping the latch.

My 81 did that, cable has needs replaced under the hood. To open lift up hood on drivers side, slide hand under hood and pull cable where it hooks to latch.

I had this problem with my 85. The cables are adjustable to each side and your left needs tightened. With the hood open, look where it connects and you will see a plastic part on the end of the cable.Notice there is a place to put a wrench and this allows you to adjust. Very simple to turn which tightens ( or loosens ) the cable. The trick for you is to get the hood to open to make the adjustment. I played with the hood release under the dash until mine finally opened. It might require pulling on the cable itself under the dash with pliers. This adjustment is a great feature when the cables get a liitle older and longer.

the cable is probably stretched out and not pulling latch far enuf to release it the latch itself could also be sticking it needs to be lubed

Hood latch on passenger side needs adjusting, Have someone put pressure on side of hood when
you are pushing the hood latch release.
This may help them when they are pulling up on the hood.

In the windshield wiper area on both sides of the car you will see a rubber plug about 1 inch in diameter. Use a flatblade screw driver (about 8-10 inches) and poke this plug out of its hole into the engine compartment (you can recover it later.) Insert your screwdriver through the hole until you find the release latch. Just push it until it releases.
