Go to BMW dealership, with all the proof of ownership papers and they will order you the correct key to start your car. You can not mess with their anti theft proofing and expect it to work. Personally I would say that I got a replacement key cut and lost the old one, thinking that the replacement key was enough to get the car working.... that way they won't laugh at you inside the dealership. You broke the RF, located inside the key cover. Now the only way to fix it is through the BMW dealership, and it is not going to be cheap. But then again, you own a BMW, not exactly a car you buy because it is easy on the pocket book. Good luck

I have a bmw 330i and the doors will not lock using key, i have replaced the key but it didnt solve the problem... what needs to be replaced?

if the door locks work manually with using the key in the door then probably will need to just reprogram/initialize the key especially if its a new key. if the power door locks dont work at all using the key manually then first check the fuse.

initializing key:
all these steps must be completed within 15 sec. of cycling the key i.e. turning the key off
step 1: get in vehicle close all doors and trunk
step 2: turn ignition on tell all dash lights are on but engine is not started
step 3: turn ignition off pull key out
step 4: press and hold the unlock botton down while then at the same time press the lock button three times in a row
step 5: door locks should initializ at this point they will lock and unlock on there own to show process is completed

Ignition switch to a 2001 oldsmobile alero will not turn when key is inserted to start vehicle. Steering wheel will not go to a locked position as it should when car is parked and key is removed. Key will...

no there is no lock position for the alero. if the key wont turn the key and or ignition cylinder may be worn out. try jiggling the key as you try to turn it. you may need to replace the ignition switch to repair this. when you do it will need to be programed to the vehicle. hope this helps

Ignition on my 2004 jeep grand Cherokee is locked, how do I unlock the ignition? Keys goes in ignition, door chim works when key is in ignition. But the key won't turn it's stuck.

tap the ignition lock cylinder with the plastic end of a scrwedriver (with the key removed). then insert the key and try to start. Try this several times. If you get it to turn immediately replace the igntion lock cylinder. The cylinder needs to be in the on position in order for the lock button to be depressed so that the cylinder can be removed from the housing.

If you still can't get it to turn than you will have to drill out the lock button in order to get the old lock cylinder out. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you have some experience and understand what you are doing.

The lock button can be accessed by removing the lower steering column cover.

My car remote control doesnt work . i changed my key batary .i need get new code but i cant .. my car 1994 model BMW 530 i .. best regart .

Hi , you can initialise the key yourself. Ensure you get into the car and close all doors, Insert the ignition key and turn on the ignition lights , do not start the engine, while the key is still in the ignition press and hold the lock button and remove the key from the ignition , while still holding down the lock button press the unlock button 3 times and release the lock button, the central locking should now lock and unlock, to initiate other keys just hold the lock button and press the unlock 3 times , you do not have to insert the other key into the ignition , you may need to practise this a few times , hope this helps, regards mark .

2002 buick regal won't start

I have a 2003 buick regal. I found a small cover or tab about 3/4 of an inch square under the bottom of the steering column cover. If you remove that tab and take a thin object , like a phillips screwdriver and shove it up that hole it will release the ignition so you can turn it back and pull out your key. What a great discovery!

Recode a key 4 bmw 318i cenral locking

To carry out this procedure you need to have one working key and one key which requires programming. It may help sometimes to hold the key close to the rear view mirror as this is where the sensor is located in most models. 1. With both keys, get in the car and close all windows and doors. 2. Put working key into the ignition and turn to position 1 (the accessories should turn on) (try also position 2) 3. Turn the key back to position 0 and take the key out of the ignition. 4. Using the working key, hold down the unlock button, press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times, and release the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock. 5. With the new key, hold down the unlock button and press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times and let go of the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock and you're done!! If not working try the following PREPARATION 1. Close all doors, trunk, hood and sunroof. 2. The security system must be in 'disarm' mode. The key must be removed from the ignition key slot. ENTER CODE LEARNING MODE 3. Open trunk and leave it opened. 4. Open the drivers door and sit in the drivers seat. 5. Close the drivers door. 6. Cycle the ignition switch 5 times between the 'OFF' position and position 2,(ignition 'ON', all dash warning lamps will illuminate). The red status LED will illuminate continuously, and the siren will 'chirp' once, to indicate that the code-learning mode has been initiated. ?Do No start the engine.? The Ignition switch cycling in step #6 must be performed within 10 seconds. The sequence in steps #1-#6 must be performed within 45 seconds. REGISTER/DELETE ID CODE(S) 7. Open drivers door, (remain seated in the drivers seat) 8. Close the drivers door. 9. Press and release any button on the remote you wish to register in the system. The status LED will shut off momentarily to indicate that one code has been registered. 10. Repeat steps 7 thru 9 to register the three ID codes. It is possible for the system to memorize a total of 4 different ID codes. As a new code is initialized into the memory, the oldest code is automatically deleted. If you had lost your remotes and wished to delete the lost remote ID codes from the memory, you could initialize the ID codes from a newly purchased replacement transmitter four times thereby deleting the previous ID codes from the system memory. EXITING CODE - LEARNING MODE: 11. Open drivers door, and exit from the vehicle, leaving the door opened. 12. Close trunk. 13. Close drivers door. The LED will turn off and the siren will 'chirp twice. 14. The initialization procedure is now completed; Test all remotes to confirm operation. If this doent work your alarm/central lock needs to be reset

Key lock ignition

Remove the steering column covers and you'll find the electical switch to the ignition. You'll find a rod that activates the switch from the lock and tumbler. Check for anything broken between the two.
