1998 land rover discovery LE automatic transmition:Stopped running turns over but wont start. Getting only 5.06 volts to the fuel pump..not the normal 12 or 13 volts followed by a steady 5 volts. Getting absolutely NO voltage to the Inertia switch (collision shutoff). Getting normal voltage to the fuse and the fuse is fine. Trying to figure out which relay is the fuel pump relay..i know its one of four relays that are mounted beneath the kickplate on the front passenger side (US model)Any idea which one of these relays is for the fuel pump? Am i right in thinking my problem lies with this relay? The vehicle is pretty much fully loaded: heated power seats etc..(someone said this could make a difference as to the location of the fuel pump relay, i'm not sure) Any help would be great!!

it is the closest one to you when looking them. its yellow. if you are careful you can take casing off of it and clean the contact points in it with very fine sand paper. they are built extremly well but get carbon build up and it ccan cause less current flow.

Fuel pump relay is usually under the hood and should be labeled.often the relay is the same type used for other operations on the vehicle - look for numbers to be the same on the relays then switch them to see if the problem is the relay. if the relays are ok then this sounds like bad ground somewhere. Any water leaks on the vehicle of spills that could start corrosion of a ground wire. good luck

Testimonial: "Thank you for your response.I will check my grounds next. Relay is deffinately on passenger side kick panel still not sure which one it is."

on the upper bar of them. not the lower to the floor bar of relays but the higher ones just under the dash

1998 land rover discovery 1 dies in water and wont start.

From what you describe the pump itself is probably OK or it would not run at all.
You obviously still have a water problem in the pump wiring or in the pump itself. Get under the vehicle and trace the wires all the way back to the engine bay, starting at the pump. Dry everything you can reach with a hairdryer (not a heat gun - too much heat). Once you figure it is all dry, spray every connection with electrical parts cleaner.
If this doesn't fix the problem you may have to consider replacing the wires - not as difficult as it sounds.

Land rover discovery R reg battery light came on but power steering stopped working but also engine still running with battey light on, can u please help

The light comes on when the altenator stps working properly. The vehicle will run untill it drains the battery.. but it sounds like you broke a belt. If you did, you need to check all the pulleies and pumps to see if any has stopped turning.

1998 land rover discovery fuel pump/relay

Under the hood next to the firewall is your multi-function box. It controls fuel and other things in your truck. You can pull your fuel supply line loose at the back of the injection rail and have someone turn the key on to see if you are getting fuel. If you are not, you will need test for power to the multi-function box and fuel pump. If you don't have a basic understanding of how to test for power to these components, my advice will not be much of an immediate help.

1998 land rover discovery. Fuel pump recently replaced, but now pump does not shut off after 5 sec when it should when engine is started. any suggestions?

The fuel pump must run constantly while the engine is running. There is a return for excess fuel back to the tank.
