Very intermittent starting problem.

Very intermittent problem (but getting more frequent). Turn key to start car, all lights come on and the car is dead, nothing. Rock the car and usually starts right up. Happened again tonight. Rocking the car didn't work. Jamming shifter hard into park and started up??? Shifting into neutral doesn't work. (neutral safety switch). Dealer says never heard of this problem and had no idea !!!!!!!

It sounds more like a bad neutral safety switch then anything else.

2002 Mazda Miata intermittent start issue. When I turn the key there is an audible click from the engine bay - but nothing else.
Generally the click is the starter solenoid engaging the fly wheel. The starter needs way more power than anything else in the car. It doesn't matter that the lights work. If the battery can't supply 10.5 volts under load, the starter won't turn. See if you can jump start the car and get to an auto parts store to have the battery checked.

The lights are on their own personal circuit from the starter. Every time you turn the key on the connections are getting warmer each time. You state after the 3rd time it will start. You will need to check all connections to make sure they are very clean and tight. A loose or corroded connection will cause a problem such as yours

I have a 96 Olds Cutlass Supreme that intermittently won't start
If the lights on the dash all come on but the engine wont turn over it could be a problem with the VAT security system. Your key has a little chip on it between the teeth and the handle. This is a common problem with GMs', often just replacing the key is necessary but sometimes the VAT module needs to be replaced.
