I have a 2000 dodge stratus and I just changed the input and output speed sensors, but I am still getting the same codes P0700, P0731, and P0733. Before I changed the the speed sensors I was also getting a Po715, but that is gone now. But it seems to stick in second and when I put it into drive it seems to jump into it pretty hard. When I go to accelerate it seems like it jumps into another gear. Already Tried: input and output speed sensors

P0700 Transmission control system malfunction
P0720 output speed sensor circuit malfunction
P0731 gear ratio error in first gear
P0732 gear ratio error in second gear
Well code 700 is a generic code that means there is a problem with the transmission or the control module. Code 731 is for a problem with first gear which would explain why it stays in second gear. Someone will need to check the circuits involved with first gear and the trans control module. A shop manual will be necessary to get the testing procedures.
p1781 is manufacturer control transmission, p0731 is gear 1 ratio incorrect, p1784 is manufacturer control transmission, p0700 is trans, control system malfunction. all of these codes refer to tranny. This code normally points to a faulty transmission control module, but this is an expensive part and you should have an experienced Dodge technician diagnose the problem first. or a transmission specialist. the other codes are probably associated with the p0700 code. have a good day !
speed sensor most likely this transmission runs 2 an input and an output. if your speedometer is fluctuating or not working it would be output problem if not probably an input speed sensor. these sensors can be purchased for around 40$ i believe at your local dodge/chrysler dealer.
replacement is fairly easy. open hood remove air cleaner locate the sensor on the transmission. in put is closet to engine. unplug sensor remove by unscrewing it. reverse for installation. disconnect battery for 2 min to clear codes and road test
I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR CAN CAUSE ALL OF THESE FAULTS..IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE..IT SCREWS INTO TO TRANSMISSION..A 1 INCH SOCKET FITS IT..ALSO CHECK WIRING TO BOTH SPEED SENSORS..A SENSOR IS ABOUT 35 BUCKS,AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER..GET A NEW ONE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM..HAVE REPLACED LOTS OF THEM
Hi, the premium system was just revamped and currently is having a little problem of not letting me post a solution to your premium question but I figured I would post the answer here for now until the problem is resolved. Sorry for the inconvenience and the time it has taken.

The codes you have are all gear ratio error codes fordifferent gears. The most likely cause to see all of these codes together wouldbe an input or output speed sensor. If your speedometer does not work, replacethe output. If it does work, I would recommend an input speed sensor. Thiscosts about $25 and is easy to replace. The speed sensors are on the left side of the transmission. You willneed a 1" socket to replace them. Let me know if you have any furtherquestions with this van. We have actually owned a few of these, so prettyknowledgeable with them.
replace the input speed sensor to transmission and the wiring pigtail all are available at your chrysler dealer take your vehicle registration in to the parts counter so they have your vin # to get the right part and it is the front of trans by fluid linres to radiator.
