Somedays will idle, run and drive fine. Most days will only start with starting fluid, and once running you have to hold gas down. If you let it idle down it will quit, but when given gas is fine. Have changed distributor cap, rotor button, plugs, plug wires, map sensor, idle-air control sensor, throttle position sensor. New oil, oil filter, intake gasket, air filter. New fuel pump, strainer, and fuel filter. Still the same problem.

First thing is to check your transmission fluid when it is at normal operating temperature. The shutting off problem could be a lot of things.have your vehicle checked for codes, pep boys advanced auto and some others will do this for free.

1996 mercedes c280 dies when put in drive

Engine stalls or RPM fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

2000 grand prix, 3800 when it warms up losses power

I would have to say the fuel/water separator filter is clogged up. The filter will remove water and crud from the gas. It looks more like a small can under the car. If the car set up with a low tank of gas, water will condensate inside and once the new fuel sloshes around it gets all this junk off the walls of the tank and that gets sucked in the filter. Try and replace that first..
