I have the same problem with my 05 Grand Caravan. The VIN # doesn't have XZZ code. I ordered the EGR with exception code. Replaced, after two weeks same P0404 came back. Where is the problem? Thanks.

The part may be faulty, or there is a communications issue. The only way to check is with a good auto electrician and a Pro Grade scanner / computer. First, I would just reset the code.

2005 Chevrolet Uplander. Had code P0401 so Shop replaced EGR valve, but now codes P0404 and P1404.

Check out this case study on a Chevy Impala for that P1404 code on a new EGR. I only watch the beginning, (too long for me to sit and watch) but seems to be a communication issue.

code p0404 refers to exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve position--range/performance problem ===causes --hose leakage/blockage--wiring ---EGR valve/solenoid
code p0420 refers to cat converter system bank 1-efficiency below threshold===causes --cat converter---wiring---HO2S 2

2005 dodge caravan p0404 error code mechanic replaced egr valve code still on

Code may just need to be cleared out/ or there may be carbon in the intake manifold ,/you can try some carbon cleaner like Seafoam or concentrated injector cleaner /may clean it up for you .bring it back and have them read & clear codes. Just replaced EGR valve- had code P0404. It's

First question, did you clean the port or passage out or the cyl head where the valve mounts to, when the valve was taken off of the engine? 2nd question, did you replace the Vacuum transducer ( little black round valve, with a vacuum hose fitting) and the valve assy? After these items have been replaced, it usually needs to have the PCM (powertrain control module) reset with a scanner of some type.

p0404 is an EGR valve problem.
Most are vacuum operated and is set off when the position doesnt match the expected one set by the PCM... however, depending on your location - the van may be equipped with an electrically actuated one that will need to be re-programmed at the dealership.

2005 dodge caravan po404 and po405 , changed egr valve an had only po405. now listen heres the punch line disconnect the battery and touch the cables together to drain the capacitors for 30 secs.reconnect an BAM po405 is gone if it dont work ill give you your money back.

had same problem 2005 Grand Caravan clean electrical connection to egr valve before replacing valve corrosion causes a low voltage to valve shows OBDII code P0404

P0404 is-egr flow ckt range/performance, check egr, remove from vehicle and clean out carbon from valve and where it mounts on engine. also check the wireing connector and wire to valve. if this dosnt work, replace valve,

need to know size of engine. but the principal is the same for removal. most egr valves have 2 bolts holding it down, remove the wireing, then remove the other hoses, unbolt egr then remove from vehicle.
