Check your FUEL INJECTOR HOUSING. The old style factory housing most likely has an internal crack. OLD style has the INJECTORS AT THE HOUSING with tubes running fuel to the engine. NEW housing has wires running to the INJECTORS AT THE ENGINE. If you have the OLD style then it is probably (99%) cracked. This will cause fuel to be sprayed into neighboring cylinders causing a firing problem. This crack IS NOT visible because it is internal. After exhausting all the regular solutions to your misfire with no success, you will probably try to replace the individual injector (like I did....cost approx. $300) and you will still have the misfire. To replace the entire housing with injectors will cost around $400. Good Luck.....on other forums, I've seen people replace anything and everything (including engines) and still had problems with the misfire.
If you're in Louisville KY and need a mechanic (not a parts replacer) for this, try Tony Johnson @ 3215 Fern Valley Rd. 502-387-0847

97 chevy 1500 sputters at idle in gear can feel it a little while driving no cat. past 2 years run bank1 lean code plugs clean HELP

If the engine is misfiring the check engine light would be on and blinking and the engine control module (PCM) would store a fault code or codes for the cylinders that are misfiring. A lean code will not cause a misfire unless the engine has a vacuum leak most often at the intake manifold gaskets. A misfire code looks like this:

P0300-P0306 for 6 cylinder and P0300-P0308 for a V8.
P0300 indicated a random engine misfire, this can be caused by all kinds of issues.

2002 Chevy Silverado 1500HD V8 6.0L Engine misfires OBD TELLS ME CYLINDER 1

It's not those. It's the coil pack electrical plug. Pull the plug and use a hair dryer to dry it and the coil pack. Never use a power washer on the engine. The weather pack seals can't take that kind of pressure.

Cylinder 6 is misfiring. What was will fix this problem? It's a 5.7L v8 in a Chevy 1500.

You don't say what year the truck is, so I will guess on the fuel system.
You need spark, fuel, and compression for the cylinder to produce power. One of the three is missing.
If the engine has multi-port fuel injection the injector for that cylinder could have failed.
Could also be a plug, plug wire, or something mechanical.

My 2001 Chevy Silverado just got a newly rebuilt ******. The day i got the truck back the check engine light came on. I took back to mechanic and he ran the code. It said misfire and that truck was running...

did the code set for multiple/random misfire or did it set for a particular cylinder or cylinders?if it is random or multiple misfire you may want to check the fuel pressure and volume and for a vacuum leak. if it is a particular cylinder or cylinders then check your coils and also the compression to make sure the engine rebuild is good and something didn't go wrong.

I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO V8 5.3 P.U. IT RUNS GREAT WHEN ITS COLD ONCE IT HEATS UP IT IS LIKE YOU PULL A SPARK PLUG WIRE OFF MISFIRES LIKE CRAZY ON TWO CYLINDERS OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE MOTOR HELP PLEASE...

You should be having a check engine light on, have your mechanic scan the PCM to see if either the any of the o2 sensors aren't comming on-line, or the tempature reading thru the PCM dosen't look correct. If you don't find any reading out of normal, try changing the tempature sensor, they can cause some very strange systems. good luck.

2005 chevy silverado v8, some hesitation, rough idling, ses light on and sometimes flashes. black smoke when reving the engine.

Black smoke could mean it is running rich, have a scan done, it is probably an engine misfire code and it will tell you which cylinder is misfiring. the last digit is the cylinder, unless it says random missfire, It may be time for a good tune up and don't forget the fuel injection system, Clean out the intake and do an induction cleaning on the injectors.
