  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  3. Disengage the solenoid wiring connector from the terminal. This connection may be held in place by a retaining nut, or it could be a push-in connector.
  4. Remove the B+ nut and wire from the starter motor terminal.
  5. Remove the starter motor-to-transaxle bellhousing mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the starter from the vehicle. If equipped, remove the starter motor spacer.
To install:
  1. If equipped, hold the starter motor spacer in position.
  2. Install the starter motor into position on the vehicle.
  3. Install the starter motor-to-transaxle bellhousing mounting bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  4. Engage the solenoid wiring connector onto the starter terminal.
  5. Connect the B+ wire and tighten the retaining nut to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Verify starter motor operation.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated this).

Bad starter?

If the starter turns but the engine does not, the two most common causes are a section of teeth missing from the flywheel, or the bendix drive is not working on the starter.
The bendix gear is supposed to move out and engage the flywheel teeth when the starter turns.

I have a 2004 chevy cavalier and it won't start. Just keeps clicking and won't turn over. I need some help please. Thanks

use test light, connect clip on grnd. , touch tip on the starter wire while turning key , if it lights starter is faulty , no light, solenoid is faulty, if it lights and indicates starter is cause you can try to gently tap starter with plastic handle of screwdriver if tapping gets it moving then brushes in starter are dirty or near worn out hope this helps

Yesterday i charged my Battery and started my 99 expedition,it was running fine and 2 minutes later the starter started going off. I turned the engine off and took the keys out. 15 minutes later i hear...

Hi,
Sounds like u have stuck solenoid, shorting the connector to run the starter! Better go to ur favorite garage, pull down that stuck starter and check the solenoid. It must have been dirty, cause the solenoid didn't retract at all!
hope that helps u out!

Somebody Please help me !! after install the starter for my tsx the starter will make clucking noise and won't start right away (it sounded like some metal hitting !!!) please someone help me!!! HELP ~~~

I am sorry, you will have to remove the starter-motor again.
Before you do this, write down the 'code' for your radio.

Seems like the starter-motor wasn't sitting properly, or you mistakenly got an object in the starter-motor housing. Or the starter-motor you exchanged was defective.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Disconnect the positive wire of the starter-motor and solenoid wire.
4. Loosen the starter-motor bolts and take it out for thorough examination. You might take it back to where you purchased it for additional testing.
5. Rotate the flywheel with a breaker-bar/torque-wrench, and see if you hear any strange sound.
6. Install the starter-motor, hand-tighten the bolts first. Then torque to about 90-inch pounds.
7. Re-connect the solenoid/starter-motor wires and the battery negative terminal. Then crank-up the car again.

Where is the starter located on 1994 ford explorer. is it easly accessable?

Hello gmboswell: My name is Roger and I will help. You will find the starter located on the passenger side of the motor. You will need a 13mm.socket and extension to remove the three bolts. Two are easy to see the third one is back between the starter and the oil pan. You will also need a 8mm wrench to remove the small solenoid wire. Really is not a very hard job.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of the way I know the answer was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya.Roger

My 97 VW jetta won't turn over. Please help!

it could be the ground wire (black) going to the starter. try putting a jumper cable straight from the black negative side of battery to the exposed metal part on the starter while a friend turns key. if it turns over then its the ground wire. if not its probably the starter solenoid or even the starter motor. solenoid would be cheaper than motor and more likely to be problem.

I own a ford e-250 79. when cold it's start nice

Hello tchuire13: My name is Roger and I will help you. The problem you describe is that of a bad starter. When the bushings wear down the armature will touch the fields inside the starter case. This happens when the starter is warm. Starter will generally work fine cold. After a heat soak the starter acts up. Replacement of the starter should cure your problem. SHould you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This is how we know you received the correct answer to your question. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
