first, what kind of car? second, how do you know the alternator is working?let me tell you how the alternator and the battery light works. the bulb receives ground from the alternator when the alternator either isnt spinning or if the alternator is defective,so when the alternator is spinning and said alternator is in working condition, the alternator sends power to the bulb, and with no ground, the light goes out, so,to answer your question, install a reman or new alternator because your is bad.

Pretty straight forward. Disconnect the negative cable and then the positive cable from the battery. Then use a 3/8 rachet and remove the serp belt with the tensioner. Then remove the bolts that hold the alternator. Move out of the way a little. Remove the cable. Then disconnect the plug. Then install in reverse order.
while your engine is running take the positive post loose on your battery .. If the car keeps running then the alternator is ok .. if it dies your alternator is not working .. Should be an easy change on that model it has a belt hooked to it and one large red wire and a plugin with two wires to this ..
