SOURCE: how do I locate and replace the cooling fan relay(S) 2002 Saturn

The cooling fan relay should be in the under hood fuse block.Remove the cover and on the back of the cover there should be a label that shows the fuses and relays and what system they protect.Just remove the one that is for the cooing fan and install the new one.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: radiator cooling fan 30 amp. fuse keep blowing

The fan may run with jumper wires but if it''s blowing the 30 Amp Maxifuse it's needs a new or used fan motor. It's pulling too many amps.I have almost never seen a fan relay concern.Only other thing you may check is the wiring down near the fan shoud I have seen the 2 wires get loose from the conduit & melt onto exhaust manifold.Hope tHis Helps

How do I troubleshoot my 1993 Saturn sl1 the fan doesn't work so the car overheats, beings I'm a female, tired of depending on a am , please help

If you know for a fact the cooling fan is why the engine overheats, you would test the relay and the signal from the computer.
The relay gets power from the battery circuit and the key switch, and a ground signal from the computer when the fan is needed.
The engine temp sensor tells the computer how hot the engine is, and when it reaches 220 degrees the computer grounds the relay providing power to the fan motor.
You would need a meter or a test light and the wiring diagram for the circuit to find the problem.

Fan motor is good checked it with a jumper wire to positve my guess is the sensor where is it located

If it is a cooling fan motor, then it can be a cooling fan relay,or fuse, that is bad,or the coolant sensor is bad.Make sure the cooling system is bled of all air.If it has air in the system, the coolant sensor will not work.

Overheating 93 sl1

The cooling fan circuit is composed of basically 3 components. The fan, fan relay, and a cooling fan switch. If you are sure the relay and fan are ok, it is probably the switch. It is located on the top of the engine block very near the upper radiator hose connector, close to the thermostat housing. A car parts store can tell you where it is located. NOTE: There is more than 1. If you have a temp. guage, there is a sender that operates the guage. Also, there is 1 that sends information to the computer. So, make sure you ask for the cooling fan switch when you talk to the parts store people.
