The Check Engine light has nothing to do with changing the oil. The light is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. Even if you reset the light it will just come back on unless the problem causing it to come on is repaired. You will need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. That tool will retrieve the code that has been set by the ECU. The code will tell you what part is being effected, but not necessarily what part or parts are defective. To determine that takes training, experience, and diagnostic skills. I suggest you seek professional help. If the engine is running fine there is no hurry but if it is not running as it should, then do not put this off.

If the engine light has come after the oil change then it would probably the oil dipstick not fitted in properly. engine light is closely related to air leakage and if dip stick is not fitted properly small amount of air can enter causing the engine light to lit.only way to erase the light is to take to a dealer or unplug ECM connecter for few seconds so it erase the faults itself.

The radio code is not written in the owner's manual. It is written on a small card that came with the car. If you cannot find the # anywhere then contact your local Volvo dealer. They can get you the # which is specific to your car and your radio.

The radio panel for 2005 volvo s40 2.4i is dark even with the radio on. You can see what is happening on the panel. Just 2 vertical lines show up.

I have a 2003 Volvo s40. Recently the check engine light and DSA light have been coming simultaneously. Sometimes it is only the check engine light. The only symptom I have seen is that the car turns over...

So you really have done nothing at all

You never checked for codes
You never looked at scan tool data

You threw a part at it, with no testing

You had the check light cleared & lost ALL
Data needed to diagnose the car

I have volvo s40 2004 The engine light comes

Sounds like your dealer is feeling its way. which sensor did they say they changed and why. Do not pay for this ****, you took it to the dealer with a warning light and they say they changed something in order to attempt to cure the warning but they failed. About as much use as changing the seat covers and emptying the ash trays! When you say noise, is this a squeal, a crunch, is it continuous or is it during change gear. Does the car slip when in gear, is there vibration. Check your engine oil and transmission oil levels

Vilvo s40 serviced in june; engine oil warning

most definitely the cylinder head gasket is gone.the oil does not just disappear,it finds its way to the radiator,i.e. mixes with the water.unplug the rediator cap with care(when the engine is cold)and u will see some kind of sludge, creamy colour, which confirms that the cylinder head gasket is burnt.u need an engineer to do the job for u.

What does SERVICE warninglight mean?

The spanner symbol usually pops up at the recommended service interval for the engine.
A. standard service would include change of Engine oil, oil filter, air filter and possibly plugs.
All other major components and fluids should be checked at this point too, and replaced if needed.
Oil and filters is the minimum to ensure trouble free motoring.

I have ust serviced my 2001 volvo s40 and now the

did the sevice light come on before you serviced it? when you "serviced" it I assume you changed the oil and now need the service light reset.
I bought the 1998 S70. it got time to change the oil. Being how I am I changed the oil myself. I had to call dealership about resetting the service light.
they said $29.96.
I said 29.95?!!! how much if YOU would have changed my oil and reset the light?
they said $29.95.
so I learned you need to access the OBDII to reset the light.after service. hope this helps.
